You will always get a great plate of food here to add to the great choice of Ales , ciders and wine (not forgetting Ally's horde of Whisky !

Overall excellent experience.Great food, atmosphere and above all great and attentive waiting staff.We had a lovely meal and can’t fault anything.

Jake was very inviting at midday, we then came back at 7 pm because the pub was so amazed balls. There’s so much to look at, The best whiskey collection in Horsham.

Shredded chilli beef salad as a main and caramelised banana, honey comb ice cream with waffles and toffee sauce to finish. AMAZING!!! Best meal I’ve eaten for a long time.

We visited there just before Christmas, looks like there is no social distancing what so ever, so we sat out in the freezing cold garden area, it was packed and not much room to move out of the way from people eating, it looked like a squashed affair, I was quite shocked. quite worrying really in this time we are in. and left early as I was cold.

what a sound! I was looking for somewhere where my mother and I could eat and found the black jug to be excellent. warm inside, we sat next to the log fire and a nice heart took his time to explain what for me on the menu (I have allergies), I didn't feel rushed or unpleasant and eating was fantastic. the little dessert with a hot option was delicious and I will come back as if I am not local, it is worth the trip:D

My family and I wanted to organise a surprise birthday retirement party for my Dad – we’d been to the Black Jug a few times before and enjoyed it.The team accommodated our needs very well beforehand (allowing us to organise decorations, cakes, etc. ahead of time), and on the day itself we had a very enjoyable time. The service was very good, the food was excellent, and the cakes were even brought to our table – we all had a great meal out.Would definitely recommend – and we may well be back next year for another birthday meal!

Enjoyable and friendly atmosphere. Food fairly good, but staff could be more attentive with offering drinks more frequently while dining. Sunday lunch was good even with a prolonged wait, the ladies apologised and gave us a deal on the bill so we were not too fussed that we had a longer wait. Food was good and with the reduced price was good value. At full price I think it is a bit pricey for the quality, but it fitted the bill and we didn’t leave stuffed and slouchy so was positive meal. Few minor changes and all would be perfect and they seemed to have plenty of staff for the tables that were here so the service could have been bit more attentive. Came here with colleagues from a charity shop I help in for our Christmas meal. Disappointing to say the least. Most of us had the tradition turkey meal. Turkey was of the boned and rolled type. Stuffing was a slice off a sausage shaped roll. But we all agreed that it was the roast potatoes that were the biggest let down. They were not at all golden and crispy, in fact rather pale and tough to cut, and very tasteless. They were all exactly the same pale yellow all over, not various shades of golden crispness like proper roasties should be .
