"The food was delicious, the flavours, textures and portions were perfect. I had the duck to start (run don't walk), the pork main (WOW) and the apple and treacle tart to finish. My partner and I both had the pork belly which was melt in the mouth good, the combination of flavours from the pumpkin, butternut squash and the sauce were heavenly. The service was exceptional, Olivia and Emily were friendly and checked in on us enough to know we were being looked after without intruding on our meal. It's a small restaurant (approx 7 tables), the atmosphere was the perfect blend of busy but not crowded, with compliments to the chef floating in the air. We'll definitely be booking in advance (you have to) the next time we come to Whitby. "I recently visited Sander's Yard bistro for the second time and it was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is located in a charming courtyard, the staff were attentive, the atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. I ordered the vegan platter and was impressed with the fresh ingredients and attention to detail in preparation. There were plenty of vegetarian options available, including approximately five vegan choices. Sander's Yard bistro is now my top choice for dining in Whitby."

"I have Coeliac Disease so we chose this place for breakfast as they had an abundance of gluten free options and was only a short walk from our hotel. I’m so glad we did as the staff were very friendly and attentive. Quick service. It was lovely to see that they were a dog friendly cafe as well (they even have a dog menu!! which was a lovely bonus to see all the lovely dogs enjoying some breakfast as well. I had the gluten free “Eggs a la swamp” which was poached eggs with a gluten free ciabatta roll, smashed avocado and a roasted tomato sauce. My non-gf partner had Eggs Royale. It was absolutely delicious and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection! Unfortunately we aren’t local but if we are ever back in Whitby, we would definitely go back!"

"Great location in Whitby for fish and chips with sea views from most of the restaurant. We got there early and were seated within a few minutes though none of the window seats were free. Service was reasonably efficient if a little cold we were handed a menu as we entered and after a short delay our order was taken. Tea, bread and butter were arrived promptly but there was then a wait of about 30min for our meals. The food was good but not great and the portion of chips was downright stingy! Considering the cost of the meal which wasn't far off Magpie prices I'm afraid it really wasn't in the same league. So all in all okay fish and chips in a clean well located restaurant but not worth the money."

"I took my man a year after estbek after a friend told me about it. I fell in love with the place. estbek lies in a beautiful place in sandsend. the rooms are beautiful, very comfortable with good quality bed linen, all the views of the front of the building so in the position to see the sea, we stayed in all 4 rooms! the menu is excellent. every time I have eaten here, I want to have the same thing because it's so good, but I always make myself choose something else and I was never disappointed. the wee is just as good. I am a red wine lover and since I eat fish here I will ask for a recommendation, again, never disappointed, the wee is excellent. the service is also brilliant, all staff are beautiful and seem to enjoy their job. since our first visit we have married and are back every year to celebrate our jubilee. the 2 men who run estbek are irritating, according to my opinion they have it with estbek absolutely in every sense, it is an absolute gem."
