"the room was a good size and clean. windows single glazed, so could hear all the traffic. the bathroom was presented clean and intelligent, but it was missing somewhere to put your own care products etc. shower worked well. the television was a large size in the room and easy to observe. good equipment with additional bonus of replacement stepp, if cold, was not needed as a room nice tempo, hair dryer, water cooker and free cookies. the breakfast was good. had dinner on Sunday evening, that was ok but expensive for quality. total good stay and good location to reach the city, alnwick castle and gardens."

Had a good meal on Saturday night. Plenty of choice on the menu. Good quality wine at a reasonable price. Good portion size. Overall very good value for money

Was there 4th November and we were served by a gorgeous young lady called Ruby (can't remember her last name). She couldn't have been nicer, will definitely be back. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Last night we each had 2 courses for £15. We opted for starters mains but could have had main pudding. The food was excellent; different, very tasty, good but not overwhelming portion sizes. Very friendly and professional young staff. Can highly recommend.

My Google map check before I dropped by suggested 'busy than usual ' so we were somewhat bemused to find ourselves the only customers! I imagine we missed the rush. Large bar areas, very well appointed and being cleaned into submission by a less than chatty bar staff member. Two real ales on tap. Plenty of books to read in the lounge (just as well if you were on your own!

we had lunch in the plough, and we really enjoyed it! eating was nice and there was a very relaxed atmosphere. it is also dog-friendly that is a very important tick in the box of us! the staff was clearly busy but very well treated with it, and the service was very friendly and prompt. the waitress was busy with my daughter who was nice, as at some places the children can be treated as if they are invisible, but this was not the case at all! Absolutely terrible , Sunday evening and no choice but Sunday lunch menu?..., we decided to stay but wish we hadn’t the food wasn’t great the beef sirloin dinner was more fat than meat, hardly any gravy and the rest of it was dry and mainly broccoli and cauliflower not much else to say, run by young kids and we waited for service to order a sweet and coffee and minutes decided to leave but not a waitress waiter in sight , just awful would never go back even if the steak menu was available

"Drove from Newcastle for a lovely walk in Hulne Park to work up an appetite for the light lunch we had booked at Bari. Temperature taken at the door, all hygiene precautions followed. Social distancing strictly observed, including taking contact details. Soup with a cheddar and mustard scone was delicious. I had sweet potato and leek a combination I would never have thought of, but now may need to make it. Absolutely delicious. The roasted veg was equally delicious, and very filling. The cheese and mustard scones are to die for and huge! Nor do they skimp on the butter, which is always a (not so secret) niggle of mine. Be warned we booked for 1.15pm, and the soup was almost gone. Be early or be disappointed! For those with a sweet tooth, a delicious selection of cakes was on offer and ice cream is locally sourced. The menu includes tasting notes on all the teas on offer, which can also be bought in the little shop. The tea is served complete with tea bag tweezers and disposal container, and an egg timer. Customers are given instructions on the best amount of time to allow for the brewing of their chosen tea. The shop has testing jars so you can smell the teas to aid your purchase. If you are not a tea lover, other drinks, including filter coffee, are available. Perhaps not the best note on which to end, but the hygiene in the loo is amazing. Sanitising wipes are provided so you can clean the essentials after use (and before, if you wish) AND it is twinned with a loo in Africa. A fabulous touch so to speak. I highly recommend Bari for a real tea experience"
