"Sadly after a long wait the food was cold, asked for a different meal and was told no! I think they are brother and sister that run it as they are both as aggressively as each other. Smashing plates around and getting angry with us each time they brought something out. These people do not know what customer service is what so ever, and hated the fact that we criticised the fact that the food was cold. We were made to feel terrible whilst eating the cold meal. Would never EVER use this place again and would never recommend use it either. We wouldn’t have stayed to eat it only for the fact that they told us we had to pay for the cold food also! Awful people"

Fabulous food, it was so good we had to go back two days later. Lovely, atmospheric pub, even my grumpy husband enjoyed it !!!!!

Well worth a visit. Lovely views, great food and service. If you like character pubs, value for money and good food you won’t be disappointed !

This was my second visit having previously visited and had the mixed grill which I found well cooked but of lower meat quality which is probably accurately reflected in its price. There is a more expensive version but it is not clear whether it would...

My mum and I went for Sunday lunch. I called in advance to explain our accessibility needs and a very helpful gentleman arranged parking and table so that it was extremely easy. The pub is a little run down although nicely quirky in decor and genuinely... Visualizza piatti

Stumbled across this pub, not even on a B road much less a main route. Amazingly busy with numerous outside tables almost all occupied by Diners. Pubby sort of menu obviously popular but I only found the food good but not exceptional. Very dog friendly...

Went for lunch on a lovely summer’s day. The pub is lovely both inside and out, the menu has lots of choice and the staff are very friendly. Our food was very well presented and delicious. Our only regret was being to full to try a dessert…. We will definitely be returning

Wow!!! What an outstanding find!! I love old pubs with quirky nooks, crannys and fireplaces…this did not disappoint. The greeting from the hosts warm and welcoming and locals were too. The food was excellent and the meat on the belly buster mixed grill was of excellent quality…my only gripe was….MY BELLY WASN’T BIG ENOUGH!!! Visualizza piatti

Poor variety of both drinks and food. Had a mix grill but have to say I’m not sure what was what. The steak was the smallest steak and that was on the biggest mix grill because apparently they had 1 standard and 1 large mixed grill . There was something on the plate that I couldn’t describe but was 100% meat of some sort but all tasteless. Best part of the meal was the chips. I’d recommend 1 thing about this place and that’s don’t go.

As locals we have eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed. We enjoyed a meal recently with friends and were accommodated last minute, which was much appreciated as everywhere else was booked up. The atmosphere was great and the food even better. Generous portions of home cooked food at very good prices. There is a decent menu choice and aways some great specials, the food is well above your average pub grub. We will definitely be eating again here and I'm glad everywhere else was booked up and there was room for us at The Live!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
