"We have been using the Lord Nelson for several years, as a good mid morning venue for coffee, but following management changes and some poor service during our last visit, we drifted elsewhere for our coffee meets. Today, we did however return with friends for...coffee and yet again it was a disappointment! The bar area was chilly, the radiators were barely warm and the normally impressive fire hadn’t been lit. There was no atmosphere and the lack of a decent display of Christmas decorations added to our gloom! This was around But it was the Cappuccino I ordered …. it was poor and someone at the Lord Nelson needs to learn how to make a decent one! Although we will return again, it won’t be in the near future."

We had a fantastic meal at the restaurant yesterday with a party of 5. The staff were very helpful, pleasant, and provided excellent service. I highly recommend dining there.

The staff at the Lord Nelson organised a Halloween evening with all monies raised going to RHCT a local charity that supports adults with learning disabilities. The evening was fantastic and very well organised. A mid week meet up for an early birthday celebration early doors drinks and a pizza. Good food, good drinks, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Felt very sad for the owners staff that you could now no longer keep a tab running but had...to pay for everything as you ordered it as people had started just leaving without paying. After the dreadful time the hospitality industry has had this is despicable behaviour.

Being using the Nelson for years, it has now changed hands, the prices have gone up, the food is still good however the size of the serving have reduced. The Beer is still good. What has changed is the service, They used to have the...best of the best staff who really made you feel special Hannah and Lee spring to mind, they were so good. Now it is the opposite nobody seems to know what they are doing especially behind the bar and taking the food orders. What used to be a special experience is now just so so. Shame.
