Over rated and very average. Watery fish,tasteless peas, twice cooked chips. Not very good quality. Just poor over all and generally a disappointing experience.

Excellent food the best service and reasonable prices . My wife and I visited on two occasions, the first night we had Fish and chips which was the best we had ever eaten, the second night we decided to try different things and had Chicken...and Gammon, both were excellent, I wish we lived closer and highly recommend the Pelican.

Visited with family today, I had the fish pie and have to say it was absolutely lovely, full of lots of fish and topped with cheesy mash. The rest of our party had cod and chips that too was excellent quality and such a good...size portion (none of us needed the extra chips that were offered we left with full bellies and very much looking forward to our return visit when we are next in the area.

I bought a family takeover to collect their website, we brought it to home and realized objects missing, I called them to make them aware that the manager I can either return to collect the missing items or they will. my details and give them to me for free at my next visit, I felt that this was not satisfactory, I had already paid for the items so that they would not be free, no offer of a refund. the manager was extremely rude and has just lost a loyal customer! it's a shame how eating is impeccable.

I had read the website and some reviews and was very excited to visit this place. How utterly underwhelming, the service was just passable and the food was average at best. The middle of the fish was still translucent, the batter looked anaemic and had...a very odd texture, chips were meh and the top up tea and extra chips if you wanted any were nonexistent. It reminded me of the fish and chips you would get in the school canteen. Highly disappointing, wouldn’t recommend to anybody. I could better at home myself. Poor Poor Poor.

We waited nearly 30 mins until we got our drinks after having to wave down a very unfriendly girl 20 mins after we sat down to order our meal and drinks. The same girl just dumped tray on our table with our drinks without a...word, so we had to take them off ourselves. My wife's curry came out cold and the same girl came over no manners whatsoever and didn't apologise for the cold curry. Just took it back never told us what she was going to do about it. Mine and mums cod and chips was v nice. We are not snobs and have worked in the catering/ pub business in the past so we know how to serve and deal with customers. 8 of us went to a meal, I am gluten-free. had a quick look at the menu online and stupid thought oh, that will be in order, sink ei and chips is usually a safe bet. I asked if it was in order and told by an abrupt waiter that it was not gluten-free. there were gluten-free options, but nothing special. I was for grilled cod and salad. very disappointed was the fish covered with pfeffer, which I did not like and the salat leaves were bitter. the options were quite something and rice or something and salad. even my local chippie in south moton makes gluten-free cod and gluten-free chips, so it is not as if it were impossible. have been for a few clicks and gather them away recently. the prices are still reasonable, but the quality of food, although good, is a bit short of the standard backside when they won national prices. the chips could be more careful with something. between brushed and fryed (removal of eyes and rest shell) and the dough can be understated at a occasion and soggy the side, still a beautiful meal. the real problem that must be addressed is the fact that the customers are still kept outside to order and wait for their food that is in the dry but no fish and chips for me when it rains this is the reason why this is not a 2 star evaluation.
