"This is the third time we have been to The Pheasant since it reopened. The first time was during the first week and there were some teething problems but staff were polite and friendly. We have been back twice since (as this is our local and we want it to succeed) and the next two times, we have had food. Sadly, the food was sub par on both occasions. The sea bass was a very small portion (so overpriced for what it was) and overcooked and served with overcooked red cabbage and carrots (which really do not go with sea bass). My son had scampi, which he did not eat due to its poor quality. The burgers and chips on both occasions were also dry. The service has been adequate but I was shocked when a member of staff asked my husband if he had finished his meal and when we said yes, she just walked off, without removing his plate! It’s hard to ruin drinks and ours were generally good, except the quality of the rose wine is poor and tastes cheap. When the pub was empty, they were advertising for a publican who would be “food led” i.e. good! There is nothing leading about the food in The Pheasant at the moment and it is deeply disappointing. For us to eat here again, we will need to see significant improvements. If it is to get back to the standard we saw when Martin and Julie were in charge, then it has a lot of work to do!"

10/10 roast. I had the triple roast which came with a giant Yorkshire pudding and sizeable portion of veg. The service was superb. Couldn’t recommend highly enough!

We had a lovely roast dinner here which we thoroughly enjoyed. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food! Cauliflower cheese included also which is a bonus! Will definitely be back.

The meals were very good value and extremely tasty. The pub was homely with beautiful wooden beams. Very traditional. Warm and welcoming staff. We enjoyed a lovely meal together. Would definitely recommend this pub.

Visited today the 9th September with Mary my significant other. We admired the oldy woldy setting and had an excellent meal of seabass served by the outgoing personable Joey whose friendliness added to the experience. Highly recommended

Disappointing meal. Bland and overpriced. Cajun chicken. The website and on line menu are from the previous owners, which is misleading as there were new owners in Sept 2023. Previously had a great meal a year ago with different owners. Venue is still lovely hence the two stars

My partner and I had a starer the sirloin roast. Orders taken starters arrived promptly. We were asked if we were ready for our mains, without feeling rushed. No waiting at the bar, as staff were aware when we were almost ready for another. All staff lovely and vert friendly. First time we have both had a roast out as on numerous occasions in various establishments we have been disappointed. However we are both very impressed will be looking forward to having a Sunday lunch again here.

We went to The Pheasant today for lunch no reservation, just wandered in because it looked like a very interesting place. It was indeed! Vince behind the bar was very friendly and helpful. He made us feel right at home and we both enjoyed our lunch so much we returned for dinner the same evening. The Sea Bass, in particular, was done to perfection well balanced. The bread and butter pudding was also excellent. Highly recommended for flavour, speed of service and attention to detail. Next time we're in Salisbury, we will be back!

Called in on spec. A warm greeting from behind the bar as we came in. Service was very good. We felt at home. Pricing was reasonable. Meals came in reasonble time and my friend 's sausage and mash she pronounced to be 'excellent '. My pork belly with mustard mash and vegetables was very good but not excellent. I would expect the pork crackling to be crisp it wasn 't, and the vegetables were beautifully al dente but only tepid and cold by the time I finished my meal. Apart from this the meal was delicious. A very good experience and will defintely return.

Went to the Pheasant in Salisbury today as we’d been recommended to try a Sunday roast, went with my husband and 2 children we had the roast beef and roast chicken, the portion was really generous, it came with a large Yorkshire pudding as well but my husband had claimed it before the picture!! The vegetables came on the side, a very generous cauliflower cheese, and separate bowl of red cabbage and carrots, the gravy was delicious, I couldn’t find a fault in anything! We all found room for dessert, so 2 apple crumbles, a brownie and the most amazing sticky toffee pudding down, we all came away very satisfied! I believe it’s under new ownership with all new staff including the chef, they all...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
