"We booked expecting that the Maids Head might be busy (on a Friday evening) but when we arrived they were actually pretty quiet, maybe because the weather was bad. The menu choice was good, plenty of variety and enough to suit all 4 of us. Starters arrived about 15 minutes after ordering and the main courses I guess 15 minutes after we finished the starters. The food was really good, everyone said they enjoyed it. Both the starters and the mains were larger portion sizes than we expected. But we tried really hard and fisnished them. I hope to visist again next time we are near to Wicken."

"Having had a great veggie roast at Five Bells a few weeks before, we felt confident booking to take daughter son in law here for a meal. They are happy meat eaters who love their food. They were delighted with the opportunity to sample all 3 roast meats. And they’re now looking forward to their next visit to us and this great pub. I rarely eat meat. I’m happy I was tempted with the slow cooked brisket. Gorgeous. An ideal atmosphere great service too. The excellent local reputation is well deserved"

"My friend kindly decided to take me another friend along to this her local pub for Xmas lunch on the 12th of December which we were all looking forward too, as we have eaten there before. Unfortunately on entering the pub it seemed quite cold as there was no open fire lite when we asked they told us they had run out of kindling, so we kept out coats on for sometime until we all warmed up. Then when we kindly asked for the menu unfortunately they had none of these as apparently they had ran out of ink for there printer so we then had to look at there written board on the wall, which had fish chips added to it. We were then told by the waitress they had no chips lol but you can have potatoes, unbelievable for a pub to run out of chips. When our meals arrived it was quite disappointing for a Christmas dinner the Yorkshire pud was completely flat, but you did get vegetables served separately which were quite a good variety even though there wasn’t lots. We then went onto order our deserts Once again to add disappointment they didn’t have any crème brûlée so the choice was just Xmas pud with brandy butter or ice cream. So one of my friends could only have ice cream as she’s gluten free who always fancies that on a cold day, me my other friend had the Xmas pud that was served in a pie dish which was not very appealing or professional looking it was served with custard not the brandy butter like the menu said. We did complain as my friends Xmas pud was also lukewarm they did kindly apologise warm it up. Because we complained they did take some of our bill. But I don’t think we will be visiting again anytime soon."

"We called in on the off chance and decided to eat. Lovely pub and very inviting so after a cool lager we decided that a snack was in order. I choose the ploughman's. It arrived with a buttered small slice of white bread and a grated cheese yes I did say grated). I found some brown balls which were disgusting and to my horror very old pickled beetroot. That was returned and replaced with fresher ones. Thankfully I was not very hungry as it was inadequate and lacking the main ingredients of a ploughman's chunky bread and cheese. Sorry guys not good enough in this day of age."

"I was looking forward to a relaxing birthday, so instead of cooking, I decided to order from Bengal Fox. When ordering through UberEats, some restaurants handle their own delivery, which means you cannot track the driver. In this situation, you have to rely on what they tell you. I placed my order at 5:15pm and was informed that the latest delivery time would be 5:55pm. When I called at 5:55pm, I was told it would be an additional 10 minutes. No problem, it was still early. We waited and called again at 6:10pm, 15 minutes later, and were told to wait another 10 minutes. The person who answered the phone then abruptly hung up on me and did not pick up any of my subsequent calls. So, I called from my wife's phone and was informed at 6:30pm that there would be an additional 10-minute delay due to an issue on the motorway. Convinced that the food was not going to arrive, I decided to cancel the order and received a refund from Uber. However, at 7:05pm (110 minutes since placing the order), the delivery driver arrived at my door. Unfortunately, we had already cooked some frozen food for dinner, so we had to turn him away on my birthday."
