"I think this pub has reopened in autumn after it has been closed for a past. this is a real family business where they feel very welcome from the family scott. the pub is definitiw family oriented and their dogs are welcome. it is the only pub within the small village wistow. not only local villagers visit the pub, but people from nearby places, travel to enjoy the warm hospitality offered. they sell a selection of popular keg lagiers and beer together with 2 Cask-Ales on the train additionally there are low non-alcoholic options for sale. the prices are quite favourable to the contrary. the food is served in certain days and freshly prepared. my meal was very tasty. there is a separate area where you can book a table in advance. inside the bar is a pool table and a dart board, juke box plus a few tvs with sky sports etc. there is an open fireplace to add warmth at cold snapshots. during my visit there was a live folk music performance. there is a bus stop over the street. I would recommend a visit to this real classic landlokal."

It was ok. Beer garden was as is and the price of drinks, without very much choice, was expensive No rush to come back here.

for the first time, while for a group walks for refreshments, staff very friendly, pub looks nice, they serve aswell, but we have not stopped eating, we had two dogs with us and they brought a large bowl of water for the dogs and some tasty, very recommended, I plan to go back to try out the food.

We stopped in for dinner while staying at the local campsite. We had a small issue with a burger but it was fixed promptly without trouble and a sincere apology : also hats off to the chef for a fantastic homemade crumble. Great service from all on shift. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I inquired about getting food and was informed that they serve until 8 pm. However, when I went to place my order 5 minutes later, I was told that they were no longer serving food for the day. The staff was very rude, but they were quick to take someone else's order after turning me away. Overall, the restaurant was a joke and a waste of time. Food quality, service, and atmosphere all received a rating of 1.

Unfortunately not impressed with this pub. Sat and had a few drinks which was lovely. Bar staff ok. 2 people came in and asked if they could eat and were told yes so thought we’d do the same. Going through menu when bar staff came and said they wouldn’t take any more food orders as they had 3 bookings this evening. None of these tables were in the pub at this time. Not impressed so went to The Butchers instead. Much more welcoming.

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
