"Friday 25th August 2023, My husband and I we saw a sign for a 17th Century Seafood Inn at Cadgwith Cove, and so we decided to explore this further. A steep narrow lane winds down to a small cove, divided by a small rocky promontory. Thatched stone cottages cluster round the beach. It is a working fishing port and local fishermen catch mainly crab and lobsters out in the bay and these are sold at the fish market on the quay. We parked the car in the car park at the top of the hill and took the path down to Cadgwith Cove. The path wound through a wild flower meadow and then down through the thatched cottages, even through gardens on the way to the cove, a very idyllic place with pastel coloured cottages and lovely cottage gardens. A flight of steps brings you out opposite the harbour quay, with its brightly coloured fishing boats and buoys, nets, chains and winches used in the catching of lobsters and crabs. Cadgwith Cove Inn was a lovely thatched inn, with a lovely outside courtyard, where you could sit and eat in the sunshine; they also have a nice indoor restaurant. My husband and I had a nice table for two inside. The restaurant is oak beamed and has pictures of seafarers and boats and plaques about boats which have been lost to sea in the cove. We perused the small but interesting menu; it had lots of lovely fish dishes on it and we ordered our food. We both had starters; my husband had scallops and I had crab pate served with brown bread and butter. The starters were delicious and were just the perfect size to get the palate started. My husband for his main course had the prawn, hake and monkfish curry served with rice, which he said was delicious. I had lobster thermadore served with a nice crispy salad and buttered new potatoes. The lobster was to live for and I had lots of fun excavating the meat, so all that was left was a pile of sculpture like shells. The meal was delicious. We washed all this lovely food down with a nice chilled bottle of Chardonnay white wine. We both had a dessert; my husband and I both had the dark chocolate and almond torte, which was sex on a plate and seductively delicious but lovely and light and was perfect finish to our meal. We did not bother with any teas or coffees afterwards as we were both well fed and very content. After our meal we went outside to listen to the locals singing ‘Sea Shanties’, there were lots of people there and it was nice to be part of this wonderful celebration."

Superb food and friendly service. Excellent fresh fish and especially liked the squid. Daily specials are varied and exquisitely prepared. Good selection and beers/ales and wines. Lucky to have this pub in Cadgwith. Dog friendly by the way.

Fantastic pub and ambience. Friendly bar staff and landlady. Great beer too. Ate at the pub twice during the week and between us we about covered the menu. Lovely food and value for money. Well worth a visit and the folk night and sea shanty singers are an additional bonus.

Found after a long drive down from Kent, welcomed with open arms and a beaming smile. Stayed in a lovely room a stone throw from the sea. Family atmosphere and dog friendly. Food was amazing, mussels are the biggest and best ever tasted even better than my wife’s and that’s saying something). Everything was a joy. Thank you so much ,we will be back. Ian, Jenny and Muttley.

The meal was disappointing. I started with the scampi, which came as just four small pieces with tartar sauce and no garnish. The fish and chips, advertised as locally caught and fresh, were tasteless and seemed frozen. I was so disappointed that I didn't stay for dessert. I ordered a beer that never arrived, but I was still charged for it on the bill. Maybe it was just a bad weekend, but I won't be returning. It wasn't worth the £60.

This is one of the best pub/restaurants I have ever been to. I came to Cagdwith with my family and friends for a week holiday for the first but definitely not the last time. Helen, Garry and the staff were amazing, extremely friendly and hospitable. The food is incredibly delicious and a great range of refreshing drinks after a breezy walk. We loved the atmosphere with the locals whilst watching the rugby, folk night and the sea shanties. Thank you for the lovely evenings Steve

We absolutely adore this inn and its food, and our friends and us traveled quite a distance for a meal. Unfortunately, our experience was just okay. While dining in the restaurant, the door to the outside area was left open. A customer's dog outside barked intermittently, occasionally non-stop, throughout our meal, completely ruining the experience for us. Despite my complaint to a staff member, no action was taken by either the staff or the owner. As a result, we will not be returning to this inn, which has missed out on significant revenue from us.

I recently visited this pub with my Mum for a drink, so I cannot comment on the food. The pub itself is gorgeous, and the room with the bar has a cozy feel to it. The service was average, but the bartender seemed more interested in chatting with her friend. The wine was pricier compared to other local pubs we have been to. Based on other reviews mentioning the high cost, it appears that you are paying for the location and the fact that it is the only pub in the village. There is potential for improvement to better utilize the charming old building in this quaint village.

We know and love this pub, we've been going for years when we're in Cornwall, food is always good, lots of fish straight from the fishing boats across the road , BUT, Sunday lunch here is to die for! As close to home cooked as you're going to get. Highly recommend. I had roast pork and you get an enormous chunk of shoulder of pork and crackling, so good, and delicious vegetables, not over cooked, potatoes, super crisp too! My husband had the beef, also just as delicious. Gary and Helen fantastic hosts and so welcoming, great staff, so helpful. Lovely atmosphere, great for familes, dogs more than welcome.

We were down in Cadgwith for the week last week. We went over to the pub most nights. We were always greeted with a friendly smile from all the staff. Mel and Jackie are just fantastic ladies. They really made us feel at home. We look forward to seeing them again next year. I've been going to Cadgwith since I was a little girl and i have never had a meal at the pub. That needed to be fixed and we ate there on our last night. It did not disappoint! I had the muscles and my husband had the steak. Both meals were delicious If you are down the lizard way make sure to have a trip to the pub on a Friday evening to watch the fishermen singing. Absolutely phenomenal. I ended up in tears watching th...

"So let us share our experience, We went in tonight as a family after seeing that it home made food on the drive to sennen and looked online and had a good look at the food available on the menu also looking to see if it was dog friendly and it ticked all the boxes, Upon arrival me and my wife went in 1st to ask if we could have a table for food and if dogs can go inside and staff were a little unsure but they confirmed we could upon asking for a table for 7 but one in a pram he said we don’t have the availability to cater I was looking at a table big enough and eventually said that this table was available whilst being seated we had 2 table one clean and the 2nd just been finished with so needed a clean but he came and cleaned both tables and he squirted the cleaner on a clean table and the over spray bounced off the table and went over our selfs then we were handed a menu freshly printed A4 paper thrown on the table (WET TABLE) so they stuck to the table upon agreeing what we wanted we went to the bar within 2-3 mins of being seated we knew what we wanted and when we asked for the meal it was OUT OF STOCK (Sunday lunch) ok fair so as I was with a family member at the bar I quickly rushed back to the table to ask my daughter of an alternative she wasn’t happy, So I made a meal up of all the extras on the menu so I went back to the bar to find my family member ordered 2 fish and chips then I realised my wife also wanted Sunday lunch so I quickly rushed back to ask her what she wanted and went back to the bar just as my family member left and asked for fish and chips was also sold out also! 99% of the menu was SOLD OUT this should of been discussed upon arrival not as we were ordering I run and operate my own business and this isn’t how I would treat my customers this isn’t how an establishment should be ran! Even when I was standing trying to order a member of staff was standing there arm against the wall doing nothing while customers are standing waiting to be served! So we decided not to eat and my family member went back to the bar to ask for a refund as we couldn’t eat as a family and the staff were iffy about offering a refund but 10 minutes later they did refund my family member as it became a scene for other people as they could see what had happened! This establishment should be call the 1st and late time you come here! We ended up walking to the chip shop down the road for food we are very disappointed in this company and establishment! For anyone who wants to eat please make sure they HAVE STOCK how can this establishment run without stock? Never again tonight they lost over £200 revenue due to this situation!"
