Cafe Brasserie Le Palace

Please don't tell everyone but Quillan is wonderful. We spent 10 days in this village, many evenings and afternoons, oh and the odd breakfast at Le Palace. The staff are friendly, the food great, the location ideal just understand you are in France and...everything will be fine.

There weren't many people, so our tour group just put 2 tables together and sat down. Were served quickly by an English speaking waiter. I had the pasta sort of a carbonara (the menu is in French). The portion was huge, and it was...12E. The salads were huge. Lovely view, but a few too many pigeons waiting around to eat.

despite the somewhat eccentric opening times, this is the most pleasant place to have a drink, directly at the river and in the regular with a small fountain to accompany her chatter in the summer. Eating hours are very strict, so make sure they are between 12 and 2 days. I'm not sure what the evening hours are, but if they're a few minutes too late, they probably won't get anything. eating is standard French price at standard prices, but perfectly acceptable that I have never been disappointed by anything I had there.

a fast lunch in le palace. have eaten here a few times and never had reason to feel disappointed. the owner is sufficiently welcoming and polite. our lunch was not so good at this opportunity. my croque monsieur was reheated and. as if someone tried to eat it in the night before. the meal of my man also looked “motherwise”: salat, limp; steak hache, tasteless. the salate in the le palace are fabulous and it's really nice (especially in summer) only at the river. for these reasons we can give this restaurant another chance.

We arrived at around 8.30pm on an admittedly busy Sunday evening to be rudely told that we had no option to see a menu or order any drinks. We were told by the apparent manager that it would be an hour wait, with no apology or offer to take drinks orders whilst waiting. We were refused the option of ordering food and our 2nd waiter was told to serve 2 other tables, who arrived after we were seated, before us. They were more than happy to take our money and tips the previous evening when it was empty so I was appalled at this level of customer service (because we're tourists?). We are still gobsmacked!

During our ten day stay in beautiful Quillan we frequented Le Palace on many an occasion for breakfast, lunch and pre dinner drinks. 'Breakfast ' is not quite the right term as while Le Palace serves the hot drinks one is directed to a local boulangerie...to buy ones choice of croissants, baguette etc.. which can then be eaten on Le Palace 's terrace an arrangement which seems to work very well. On summer lunchtimes the terrace at Le Palace can get pretty busy but service was quick and efficient and the menu wide ranging. Whilst not exactly haute cuisine the food (of the pasta, burger, salad variety) was nevertheless very good. The location is lovely right by the old bridge. Highly recommend...

le palace is located in a great place, right at the river in the center of quillan. we had avoided eating in the restaurant during the winter months after a bad lunch experience and then of course by locking. on a hot, sunny midday last week, when our son and his friend were with us, we gave le palace a second chance. it was great! the outdoor terraces were filled with people, social-distancing on tables in decent distance. michel smiled (yes, smiled) and greeted us! he had a young boy who helps him to wait tables. everything was calm and relaxed. we did not expect a fast service and had really no idea what to expect with food. we ordered drinks that arrived quickly, followed by our food ord...

we have joined two friends for our second visit to le palace this week, and as always we were thrilled by the value for money, food, service and ambiente. le palace’s best review is by how many people want to eat there, and despite melancholy. the increase of the number of covers of the place is always full capacity. michelle is an excellent and amusing host and will do its best to accommodate excess pay, but there is of course a limit and he never compromises on the quality of service delivery only to secure additional custom. it is supported by a very efficient team and an amazing chef who cooks each of the numerous dishes on the menu to perfection.
