"a disappointing experience at gales today, where we often visit. we had booked and arrived for 12:15, we were shown to our table, but service was very slow to offer us a drink, but finally this happened. we waited and waited and had to ask. if we could order food. it was a special mothering day set menu or mothing Sunday, as the menu actually sad. that were three main dishes, bark meat, pork and a nut roast, but at the order we were told that the bark would not be ready for an hour! so we ordered a starter to share camembert with sourdough. this came and was satisfactory. we waited and waited then and finally an hour and a quarter after arriving the most important courses. Unfortunately the whole meal was lukewarm, three small slices of pork, a carrot, cauliflower and bratkartoffeln. the kartoffels had hard skin left leather that was unusable. no one asked about the cursor when everything was satisfactory. we had a sweet order, but decide it on a day. we explained during the payment that the main course was unsatisfactory and the person responsible pulled the cost of eating and only accused us of our drinks. Nevertheless, the whole experience was extremely disappointing and unsatisfactory."

I'm sorry, not usually check, but her steak was so badly cooked and embarrassed I had too. Nobody checked if we were happy. there must be better ways to eat than this

have drunk here a few times the choice of others, not mine! they do not sell guinness, do not have any kokse, and have an incredibly limited wine card (through the glass,) which is strange when considering that it calls itself a weinbar. is a bartender. rather surly, but the others are in order, and it seems flexible that they are dead on 23:00 clock. My partner had been to Gales a few years ago and rated about the food. Disappointed to find the food expensive for quality and mainly burger based Also we stopped in the hotel, not 24hr maned as stated .fire alarm 3 am ,not on...direct link to fire brigade or key holder.Another visitor phoned the owners. Who when they came . Poor and frankly worrying.

Classic warm cosy wine bar, cosy and familiar inside with a great little menu, fantastic coffee and as you'd expect for a wine bar the alcoholic beverages are spot on. in the warmer months the wine garden is a really really nice spot away from...the hustle and bustle of town. Regular live music and often dj's (I'm biased, being one of them) on a Sunday during the day playing a selection of decent music.

Been to gales a lot over the years and it was once one of the best places to eat in the area, recently however (last 12 months) its gone down hill, the feel is still very nice but that's kinda where it stops, the service.. attitude is basically **** i get the feeling that lately they real couldn't care less if they have customers or not. The menu is now very limited... such a shame as it was once one of my favourites Visualizza piatti

I have to write this review out of shock! Went on Saturday night with my daughter as this was one of my favourite restaurants in the village! How disappointed I was to see the small new menu , with such minute steak and chips! Ummmm...what happened to the mussels in white wine sauce something a bit different? So we went with a shared meat board! This was in fact the worst meat board I have ever seen, ham out the packets, a few slices of salami no pickles And served on a plate, just shocking for £12.00 The restaurant was bright with all the lights on, no atmosphere, normally candles on table and a open fire! Service slow. Please bring back the old Gales Your Sunday roast was the best now you...

we went for a meal here and ordered the minute steak, a bark meatburger, and 2 single gin limonade the bill came to 39.95 the burger was ok nothing special, but for 10.95 it was as expected. the minutesteak 14.95) was...Disappointing, I asked about it well done, so expect it not to be as tender as it would be rare, but the meat was extremely chewing and tasteless, 1/3 of which was unusable so badly cut. I went by and saw that someone had ordered the same, and left a lot of meat again. the tomatoes saw and tasted as if they were there after the breakfast. we were asked if we like lemon in the gins, no came, the drinks came in standard glasses disappointing for 7.50 for a single gin and limona...

"Went for afternoon tea with my wife, using an 'experience ' voucher from a well known site, costing £35.99 absolute disaster! The description said 'sit down in the sophisticated dining room and tuck into a section of finger sandwiches, tantalising cakes, pastries, macarons and scones with clotted cream and jam. You won 't want this afternoon to end! ' Trust me, we could not get out of their quick enough and go and find somewhere to get something to eat. The sophisticated dining room was a large, cold room with only a couple of other diners, sticky wooden tables, with no table cloths, just a flimsy paper napkin and a knife and fork. We ordered a coffee and a tea, which came in the smallest teapot, I have ever seen. Later in the meal, when we asked for another drink, we were told that was extra and were charged another £5.70. The food was nothing like as described or pictured on the website. A sad looking selection of sandwiches four quarters each of thin sliced bread one containing a very small piece of processed ham, a second mashed up egg, third was some sort of fish, not sure if it was salmon or tuna; and finally some sort of green leaf with something wet on top it looked like the sandwich had been made days earlier and then sat upon! No pastries or macarons but the two scones with clotted cream and two little pots of jam were OK, however the remaining small cakes were dreadful, none of them were fresh there were two eclairs that were inedible, either the cream or chocolate was off and they were very dry; two little red velvet cakes, which again were dry and horrible; and finally two small pieces of carrot cake that were the least objectionable but again very dry. When we told the waitress the eclairs, she said she would tell the chef but no offer of an alternative. True, it was an unforgettable experience, but not in the way we had expected! We have had afternoon teas in top hotels, pubs, cafes and well known garden centres and nothing came close to being as bad as this meal. Needless to say we will never return and would strongly advise caution if anyone is thinking of going here."
