Had high expectations so was a little disappointed when the carbonara needed a touch more salt to enhance the flavour, the risotto was not as creamy as it should and the chicken milanese was not breaded enough.. but was succulent. The pizza and fries were really nice , I ordered a tiramisu for £8 thinking it was a normal tiramisu as no ingredients were specified, took one taste and it just tasted of alcohol due to religious reasons I do not consume alcohol and was very upset with this, the waiter said sorry and made me pay for both? "From arrival to departure, the attention to our comfort and enjoyment was unstinting. Friendly barman, who made excellent cocktails and very welcoming Maitre D ' who oversaw the food service (and knew everything about the dishes 8 course tasting menu, veggie and non veggie). A panoply of tastes, textures and beautifully presented dishes unfolded, each building on, and contrasting beautifully with its predecessor. Flavours abounded and surprised the palate at each turn, yet everything tasted 'as it should '. My highlight was the red mullet in a 'nage ' of rhubarb and lovage oil, yet nothing could be faulted. A visit by the sous chef who toasted marshmallow lollipops at the table and served a variety of chocolate fancies capped the dining experience. As did the fine port which the Maitre D ' proposed to end the evening. Wonderful."

"Having stopped in Bourton on the Water and thought I would grab something to eat to save sorting something out later that evening. Having a quick scan on Tripadvisor I thought I would give Smiths a try. Entering I was given a choice of table so opted for one by the window to watch the world go by! I ordered the Smiths Classic Burger, Truffle and Parmesan Fries and thought I would give the Limoncello Spritz a try. Some reviews on here say that there is a wait for the food to arrive and yes there is and to me that is a good thing. If you have to wait it means that the food you have ordered is cooked freshly for you. The burger was well cooked and flavoursome with just the right amount of extras inside to make it something easy to pick up and eat. The truffle and parmesan fries again were very flavoursome. The Limoncello Spritz has a bold claim on the menu in saying that they make Limoncello better than the Italians but to me personally Sorrento Limoncello is superior but Smiths Spritz is still very drinkable. Family run and friendly had a nice conversation with Seb about other places locally to visit and with mum (sorry I didn’t catch your name) about how they came to Bourton and the history of the tea room to burger restaurant change. Yes there is a service charge, yes the mention it when paying and ask if that is ok. To me yes that is fine. Visit other restaurants (not cafes or fast food) and you’ll find that they also charge a service charge. Maybe it should be printed on the menu, maybe it shouldn’t. Everyone has their own opinion. Would I go back again? Would I go with friends? The answer to both of these questions is……. Yes without a doubt!"

"We were debating about where to have dinner on our last night in the area and ended up booking dinner at Mousetrap. We were not disappointed! The building itself is very cute and we loved the subtle mouse related decor; it as fun to spot them. The food was generous and hearty with a very nice job in the plating creating a lovely first impression. I ordered the spinach and mushroom Pithivier and it was delicious..definitely not something I can get back home. My better half very much enjoyed his chicken. We had just enough room left to share a delicious dessert which also looked great."

"Off the tourist track so usually able to get a table. I live 90 miles or so away but as my hobby is riding motorcycles I often mosey on down to the Cotswolds and when I do, I always go to this cafe. The owner remembers me each time and remembers my drink and what I like to eat. Very friendly people, freshly prepared food nice quiet spot. Highly recommended Chris Rose"

"Gave order. While waiting a man went to complain about the poultry amount of cream with his cream tea. Staff said they’ve never had a complaint about it before. The owner offered more cream which he accepted. When he was back at his table the staff started rolling their eyes , laughing and one of them held their little finger up and made a gesture with it. In the meantime we were still waiting for our coffee and scone and canned drink. I went to staff and said I wanted a refund as I was still waiting. She looked at receipt and said you’ve only been waiting 9 minutes! My order was only one coffee, one scone and a canned drink. This was hardly a big cooking job. They had a further complaint as I was leaving another customer wanted to know why he hadn’t had his order."
