"I had a friend visiting from the United States who is in the planning stages of bringing tour groups to France. I had suggested we go to Bistrot de Malfourat mainly because of the view but I recalled having lunch there in 2018 and the...food being quite good. Not so this time. We had the menu du jour. The first course was a salmon and trout tartare and a salmon mousse. The latter was not bad, but the salmon/trout combo was not fresh and very fishy and unpleasant. I have eaten enough nigiri in my life to know when fish is fresh. This was not. The second course was a breaded filet of veal served on a bed of macaroni. The veal was tough and very dry. (I guess the kitchen staff aren't aware that a piece of veal like this should be pounded to tenderize it before breading and frying. The macaroni was nothing special and did nothing to enhance the veal. A sauce of some kind might have helped. The dessert was a bit better, some lemon mousse, lemon meringue with a puddle of lemon sauce and broken cookies. I guess that's the modern style of plating. It tasted alright but like the rest of the meal, not all that great and the plating didn't do anything to make it look appetizing. For a place that is connected to a Michelin star restaurant, this lunch experience seemed to indicate that the kitchen doesn't really care much about what is served in the bistrot. I guess all of the care goes into the Michelin star restaurant. This experience was a huge disappointment, not only to me but especially to my friend who loved the view but because of the poor quality of the meal decided to look elsewhere for a place to take her guests. The wine was very nice, from Clos des Verdots nearby. The service was fine but it took a long time to get the bill and the server had to be reminded to bring it to us. I don't like to write a negative review, but when one travels to a place expecting to have a memorable meal the memory should be a good one, not something that puts one off of the restaurant."

After many months in lockdown this was our first experience back out into the world of dining out. Great location with lovely views over toward Bergerac. Friendly efficient staff who whilst observing the requirements for COVID-19 were able to make the expeirence a real pleasure....The food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. We will be back here again soon.

we had a nice lunch break, good food, great view and ok service. eating is excellent and at 30€ appropriate for the standard of food. the dining room itself has a fantastic view over the valley towards bergerac, and the tables are positioned to make...the best of it. the service was ok, not very smiley and if I'm honest, I felt a little snucky. Anyway, I would recommend it for a nice relaxing lunch.

A delicious meal of a high standard. My starter was a generous portion of beautifully cooked and presented salmon on bruschetta and would have been enough for me without the main course. The service was impeccable: discreet, friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is large...and elegant, and there is a shady terrace overlooking the valley. My friends and I were delighted by the whole experience. I will definitely go back there again. Highly recommended. Visualizza piatti

a good visit in the bistro. the first time that we were here and it is a good and always good alternative to the tours of the vent next door, which we visit each year once a year. the views are equally impressive if not better from the bistro....A 22 euro menu standard 3 courses (no choice) or 30 euro menu with a selection of a few options for each cursor. we liked the options on the 22 Euro menu so went for that and it was all good. eating was good and service was friendly. pichet from local wine at a good price.

We booked on line for 13.15 and arrived at EXACTLY that time. The greeter tried to imply that we had to hurry to the table. We found that annoying The view is spectacular probably better than next door Tour de Vents The food was...OK but not in the same league. My wife found her beefburger too dry, my duck was OK. The local wine was from Verdots and good and well priced The inside of the restaurant was quite crowded but we didn’t get a great ambience Overall the experience was a little disappointing. This seems to be a place designed for a high volume with no great attention to the quality

next to the Michelin start of the vent, this upscale totro is located at the rande of the sharp piste and offers a magnificent view over and along the Dordogne valley to surely ask for a table near the windows. excellent food for lunch. before we flew back to Great Britain (the offers will be different when they go so that I 't prescribe them) from a selection of three starters / main / desserts (for an additional fee you can have an additional cheese plate, although an option on the cheaper menu is also cheese) on the menu du jour. it's hard to publish, but the service seemed a little removed. efficient, but without real connection to us as a diner. I wrote a review soon after this opened and I wasn 't impressed, but what a change, we have been here twice either side of Christmas. It is a bistrot but the food quality was really excellent our last two visits and at least two of...our party are quite picky eaters but even they ate everything up and we were all delighted and will be back very soon. They have improved the decor, a much more interesting selection of food. There is a 'menu du jour ' around 14€, and a carte for 28€, we chose the carte, not that there wasn 't anything wrong with the menu du jour, I had a superb soup with a poached egg and sliced truffles, a 'house ' burger with real chip and an excellent chocolate desert. It to...

the view from the terrace is really wonderful and I wanted to go back because it was raining at our last visit and we had to eat inside. this time, the weather was perfect to eat outside, although it was a little disgusting to sit...and we were told first, it could be cold that we were brittle. the last time eating was great, and we were told that they had help from the tour of the vent next door. this time it was not eating until the standard last time. the Oeufs-Mimosa-Starter was nothing special and although the Beetroot-Salatstarter was good, the beet-root itself was cold and had clearly only been brought out of the refrigerator better at room temperature. concerning the main courses, th...

"How to say... The Bistrot de Malfourat is often associated with the Michelin-starred restaurant La Tour des Vents. From then on we expect a formula which, we can well imagine, will not be of the quality of a Michelin star but will have the concern for requirements and quality. Many starred chefs also engage in this type of dual proposition (e.g. Olivier Nasti and a winstub brasserie opposite his starred restaurant in Kaysesberg). Well unfortunately that’s not the case. The tone is set from the entrance where a hanger rack is placed for your changing rooms, we will note the mismatched hangers (we will understand later the reason for this hanger rack). The toilet area is opposite the entrance and a wedge is placed under the door, allowing access to the amenities to be seen. Entrance into the room, the very large room, with a podium at the back. The immediate impression of coming to a big wedding meal, you almost want to look for the bride 's table. But no, it 's a Bistrot . But by what intellectual magic could those in charge of the establishment imagine the name “Bistrot” for this? (they type Bistrot in Google image). Here I feel a little fooled. So, here we are, let 's continue. We are seated at a low table. Yes, a coffee table?! To have a drink with friends in the cozy lounge of a large hotel, yes. But there, a coffee table in a restaurant, placed in a large room? I kindly ask if it is possible to change, but unfortunately no normal tables are available. The view is superb, dominating Bergerac. I look around me, immediately noticing our neighbors ' bench, assembled plywood sheets, stained, on which cushions are placed. Summary. In order to break this feeling of a large party room, some privacy screens between guests are placed, iron shelves on which green plants are placed, the plants are very, very tired... it hurts the heart for them. I opened up about it to the restaurant reception, the young woman explained to me that it was the return, after a vacation, and therefore the plants had not been maintained or watered. I can tell that she is sorry, but this is the responsibility of management. Now that you know that we are dealing with a large village hall, I will let you imagine the acoustics. There are a few panels placed on the ceiling to limit the resonance, but in vain. Do you remember the school canteen, the noise? We are not very far there anymore. As if that wasn 't enough, the desire to impose a disco-type sound background for what I remembered, I thought the moment we were going to push the tables to the sides to make room for the dancers. Well we were there to eat, the dishes were pleasant without being transcendent, nothing to say on this point, neither ecstasy nor disappointment. Wine. We are in Monbazillac, an emblematic place like so many others in France for the love of wine. First glass offered, a dry white wine from the region, round, very pleasant to drink, very satisfied. To accompany a dish I choose a Riesling (German). By the glass. But in fact I discovered that it is not really in the glass, it is in a capsule bottle, dosed for one glass. I 'm going to pass for a reaction , but what the hell is this... it 's level 0 of a wine service. The wines cannot be stored correctly, the waiter does not have the hand for any generosity. I want to understand that business is business, but there... The result was not long in coming, the wine was very average. I add that it frothed slightly, but this was due to a rather rapid dive, I think. So there you have it, a big disappointment. The staff did their best, we know how difficult it is to recruit. I 'll go to the Starry Tower of the Winds later, we 'll see. But please, gentlemen responsible for the establishment, do not call it Bistrot, and do not associate it with your gourmet restaurant. Choose your path, but not this improbable thing."
