"Booked for dinner at 1830 on Friday, mid December. Bar was busy restaurant 70% full. Served a menu and drinks promptly. We later found out that Christmas menu was available but wasnt offered to us. The place was warm, with a lit open fire. Christmas decorations were poor. Ordered dishes including Scampy, fish and salads. They arrived promptly and it tasted very nice, but had no tartare sauce nor salad cream (Didnt tell us before we ordered). Plates were cleared afterwards, and with only one other table occupied we were abandoned. I called the waitress after serving the other table and she replied without making any eye contact or intention of coming over. She replied they only had 2 choices of sweet course. she sent someone else who took a fresh drinks order (no decaff tea). I noticed a different choice of sweet course going to the other table to be told those choices were on the Christmas menu and not available to us. We werent offered the christmas menu nor told of the limited pudding offering. At 20.30 the last orders bell sounded. The waitress came over a few minutes later to tell us the pub will be closing in 10 minutes ie at 9pm. Will not be returning."

"This carvery is simply the best in the region. While there have been some changes, such as not being able to serve yourself and certain menu items missing (like cauliflower cheese), the price is very reasonable at £7 for a large carvery. The meat is beautifully cooked, with huge Yorkshire puddings, delicious roast potatoes and stuffing, fresh vegetables, and tasty gravy. The manager and staff are lovely, making it a great place to dine. It's unfortunate that some visitors are not appreciative of the fact that the restaurant has recently reopened and may have some teething problems. There is no excuse for shouting and screaming at the manager over a genuine mix-up with meals that she personally apologized for. This behavior is unacceptable."

"What can I say my husband and I visited to grab lunch as I work very long hours for a charity and don't get much time, as we stood in the que we saw a gent in his 30s with curly short hair eating fishcake chips and curry stood behind the counter whilst serving... I felt shocked as my husband is a cancer patient and as you can understand at this current time we are extra cautious because of his vuanrability, this lovely gent then went to go on to make a battered chip butti with curry. He made the meal then squished it down onto the food surface with his hand and then to my amazement he put it into the batter to which the fish was dipped.... I was really embarrassed my husband left the shop and sat in the car . Politely I ordered a pork gyros just so I wasn't looking silly, I know I could have complained then but id been up most of the night with husband on treatment and then work I just cudnt take any complications I needed to get home and look after my hubby before anyone questions me. My gyros was very disappointing cold greek bread and was told no tazikki not that I would have eaten. Wow I'm amazed in current situation aswell anyone could disregard people's health and safety my husband a d I for one will not be returning. Only good thing the lady serving us I think her name was Abbey was fantastic"

"Planned a spontaneous trip for a curry and wow was I was impressed. Found this place in Google read the reviews and menu and I was sold. It was a really nice restaurant very spacious. I had the cod fish starter I was so impressed that I was gutted it finished. I had the ghost zafrani and that was very flavoursome. There was 3 of us and we all enjoyed our meal. I will definitely be back"
