"Allergic to nuts. No mention of nuts on the menu. Nuts added to meals that no other sushi restaurant’s do (Wakame Salad) Very unsympathetic response form the guy on the phone when we called in to enquire about possible nuts after having eaten them unknowingly. Employee said they don’t know what nuts are included. “It just says nuts, on the packet” ————————————— In response to your response; A fair point and a responsibility that I would have taken upon myself, had the attitude of the person on the phone been less dismissive and unconcerned. From the your reply, should i assume you are the person I spoke to on the phone? I only called up because an allergic reaction had started occurring and you always have to track a reaction to its source, if possible. “I’ll sort this out and call you back” I said. “Do what you like” was the reply. Had you showed any concern, be it during the initial call, or now, we wouldn’t be talking on this review at all"

"We had a lovely dining experience and thoroughly enjoyed all the appetizers. I ordered the burrata, which I could have easily shared. My partner went for the two large speck-wrapped little pigs, while our son had the garlic flatbread, which was fresh and delicious. My partner and I shared the Santa Stack burger, which was fantastic. Our son opted for the kinderburger. The service was excellent, provided by a charming gentleman with shoulder-length hair."

"Went here to celebrate a couple of friends birthdays and had a very mixed evening. It was a Monday night so it was quiet and we were one of only a handful of tables. We were a party of four and there were no tables any larger than ours in that evening. We were seated quickly and that was about the one and only thing that happened all night with any kind of urgency. Our orders were taken and we were waiting 20 minutes or more for our first round of drinks. About half way through this, we were informed that three of the four meals we had ordered were sold out (something you'd think we'd have been informed of at the time of ordering . We thought we could quench our thirst with some water whilst waiting for our drinks but sadly no one ever came over to refill our glasses. When the food finally arrived it was delicious and I couldn't fault it at all (even if it wasn't my first choice on the menu! , so that made up for lack of service. We ordered a dessert each although only 3 of them arrived. My friend had to ask for her coffee which also didn't have any signs of showing and then when her dessert didn't show she just gave up on it (it was never put through the system . I ordered a glass of red wine, specifying the wine and was given a glass of what I assume was house red at least I wasn't mis charged for it as it was cheaper than the one I ordered! Even paying the bill was an ordeal, taking us a while to get it and then having to go through line by line to see if any of the food we ordered and didn't get hadn't been taken off (there was one additional meal on the bill . All in all a bit of a shambles but at least the delicious food and the wonderful company meant it didn't dampen our evening too much. Don't think I'd come back on a quiet night again, seems the service staff take it as a sign to disappear."

"I had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Halfway Inn. There were two of us, and we thoroughly enjoyed a traditional Sunday roast. We started with the tempura prawns, which were light, crispy, and delicious. The roasts were plentiful, and I have to give a special mention to the gravy—it was absolutely outstanding. Although we were quite full, we couldn't resist trying the sticky toffee pudding, which was exceptional, especially when paired with the homemade fig honey ice cream. The selection of wine and ale was lovely, and the friendly service in a cozy setting made it a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Food: 5, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 4."

"We've been a few times and have always had great food and service. That said, on our last visit a couple of weeks ago our waiter seemed to only want to engage with me and not my partner, even when it was her who was paying. So that was disappointing. Other than this one experience we've loved going to Côte Newbury and will chalk off the one less than stellar experience to a one off and try again another time."
