"I have booked a surprise stay here for my friend birthday, at the arrival we were advised by a beautiful dame and shown in our room, we were in excessive oliven, a room with a whirlpool tub and I can honestly say it was one of the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed! we also came to dinner in the evening and eating was absolutely delicious. When it comes to order drinks that we were served from the same dame from check-in, I run a pub to choose a drink that I was fed with the usual drinks, she recommended a gin-based drink that I enjoyed very much. we loved that much we have booked for fairytale! many thanks for an amazing time and we will see them again soon:"

Excellent restaurant and accommodation. Chef is passionate about his kitchen and uses all locally produced ingredients. Very relaxing atmosphere, top service, friendly staff,. An exciting menu very different dishes, exceptional. Can't wait to return.

Food took quite a while to be served. Had chicken caesar salad. Chicken lovely but bacon overdone and not much of it, croutons rock solid, hardly any dressing. Charged for red wine and coffee we hadn't ordered, so had to ask for amended bill Service: 4 Location: 3

I myself and hubby stayed for a few days in the mai. what a fabulous place to stay. the room was very clean the staff very friendly and the service was exceptional. the price for the room was very good and the breakfast was fab. I would definitely recommend to a friend and would stay back.

Went here for a birthday meal. Be advised that the while you wait freshly baked bread is not a starter but more than sufficient for 4 people to share. I recommend the crispy duck leg small plate. I was pleased to see Ravenswood Zin on the wine list, it 's one of my favourites but hard to come by. Service: 3 Location: 3

Excellent attentive staff, I called at 530pm on a Friday and got a table straight away. Warm friendly, personal, welcome. Food was fantastic, I had the Haggis starter and lamb shank, my partner had crab and crayfish linguine which had lots of flavour. Local 'house ' beer 'aye up Duck ' was good too! Beautifully presented restaurant. Very impressive. This is how you do it!

Stayed here last night (Saturday) and I am so impressed. The pub/restaurant area is lovely and the food was delicious! Our room was fantastic especially the jacuzzi bath! On demand TV including Netflix and a brilliant breakfast this morning! Service exceptional throughout! Just fantastic thank you! I would have paid triple what you charge and still would have been pleased!

6 of us dined here on a Thursday evening, arriving at 6:15. We had one of the dining areas almost to ourselves, for the first 20 minutes, until other (somewhat noisy) guests arrived and when we left at 8:20 the dining areas were full and buzzing. I ate bbq lamb rump, and thought it was excellent, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Negatives: my son's first pint of Doombar had to be returned, and replaced. Table top was a bit sticky. the ugly duckling has become our main restaurant after being moved into this beautiful opposite 17 months ago! the eating is delicious and the atmosphere in the bar area is also beautiful if they have only one drink or a beautiful cocktail on the terrace!, I can recommend the tempoura kabeljau as an appetizer or if it was cooked in steaks, my filet steak last night for perfection! unfortunately I had no place for dessert! the service was also good!

the second time here and again it was beautiful! the room was great and had everything we needed. we had dinner and then breakfast included in the price. the dinner was amazing, all eating looked great! it's just that one of our starters was wrongly bought that waitress recognized, but she gave us as a good willing gesture, but forget to remove from the bill! only realized when we left, so ended with the payment for the 3rd starter anyway. they were very busy, but would definitely return!x
