"From start to finish this was an amazing stay. Jon contacted us before we arrived to chat about arrangements for our son, and when we arrived we received such a warm welcome Jon and the team made an effort to learn our names and doted on our 3 year old who was very spoilt. Dinner was incredible, the cocktails were amazing and the mulled cider was just perfect next to the lit fire. The room was very clean and comfortable and the bath in the room was really cute! Breakfast was hands down the best smashed avocado I’ve EVER had. The team at breakfast were so lovely and friendly. Jon has built an impeccable team for the pub they’re all super friendly, chatty , attentive and honestly the whole place is brilliant. The homemade biscuits were gorgeous! We will definitely be back thank you for such a great stay!"

"We first called into the George in October this year for lunch on the way to a family holiday on the south coast. The welcome we got on that occasion was so memorable and the food so good that we thought we would try and book a Christmas meal. What a fantastic choice we made. Helen and the team went overboard to accommodate us, from the minute we walked through the door we felt so welcome. The meal itself was fantastic. We cannot comment negatively about anything except the brussels sprouts but then its a standard Christmas joke. In reality the sprouts were great. The locals were friendly and we had a good banter after our meal. My wife commented dont tell my mum but that is probably the best christmas dinner ive ever had and the roasties were to die for The ambience of the George is perfect, music you can hear if you hear a special song but not so loud that you have to raise your voice to hold a conversation. Accomodation is spacious and comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. I must also mention the breakfast. Again, up there with the best we 've had. It takes a special team to make a pub special and the George has got that one spot on. We look forward to visiting again soon Jim Deb"

"We found this pub after searching for local restaurants on google maps. We chose it as it had a very appealing menu. Immediately on entering the pub the owner greeted us warmly and asked what we would like. He handed us 2 menus, we made our choice and found an empty table to where he said our meal would be brought. It arrived no more than 10 mins later and was top quality home cooking. My wife had a boeuf bourginione and I had a vegetarian lasagne both with potatoes and salad and both equally delicious and well presented. We finished off with a home made warm berry crumble, also delicious. The owner came over several times to ask if everything was OK. We find it rare to be given such a warm and genuine welcome and we will definitely be going again next time we're in the area"

"On arrival the garden and grounds and view were superb. We found a nice table and all was very clean, the waitress friendly and efficient. Sadly it was not a carvery but a plated meal. When it arrived I was sad to see that the plate was overloaded. Gammon slice, (bit fatty 6 roast potatoes (which could have been a little more crisp. cauliflower, carrots,parsnips, brocholli, pop up Yorkshire pudding. stuffing (a bit tasteless, and gravy. A massive meal which would have done me for two days. It looked good value but sadly I could only find room for half the amount. Sticky toffee pudding with custard was superb. and a good coffee to follow. I feel this pub has missed a trick. Most of the people lunching were 70 plus and would have preferred to have a carvery where they could just take as much as the wanted and not been over faced by such a plateful I shall go again but try their a la carte menue, ot specials if they have them"

"Very nicely decorated and set up little cafe. Good clean toilet facility. Good choice of foods on the menu something for everybody. I had a cheese ploughmans and it came on a board with an excellent selection of foods, good size piece of cheese and really tasty, best ploughmans Ive had in a while. Had no room for pudding but puddings and cakes on the menu looked very good."
