"The restaurant looked full of happy diners always a good sign, so we were expecting a reasonable lunch. Maybe we arrived too late (12.45), maybe the chef was having an off day, maybe dealing with a couple of large groups proved too much for the kitchen, maybe we should have avoided the basic 3 course lunch for 15 Euro who knows, but for all the good trip adviser reviews, the lunch was disappointing. It started off well, with a salad for starter, either with goats cheese or quiche, although I 'm not convinced that slices of passion fruit and orange actually added much to it. Then the 2 large groups decided to leave and each individual paid separately. This took up the attention of the 2 people serving for a considerable time, and our second course appeared to have been forgotten. When it did arrive, the beef brochette, which actually was a tender piece of meat and tasty was served with burnt cubes of fried potato and a 'gloup ' of courgette. After this we gave up the will to live and just had ice cream as the dessert. I have now had so many poor experiences of eating in (basic) restaurants in France, that I 'm not going to bother anymore. I would rather go and get a decent bit of bread in the boulangerie and some pate in the boucherie than suffer the offerings of another poor restaurant meal. Long gone are the days when you could go in to an unassuming restaurant with formica tables and be served the quality of food that Elizabeth David described. Next time I think I will try the sushi chains that now seem to be opening over France."

"I'm an American and have enjoyed Chinese-American food for many decades. Been in south of France the past year and the Asian restaurants .... well, boring and not good, perhaps because the French don't like spicy. But this is the first Chinese place I've really...liked. For France, especially for Ales, fantastic. If I go a couple of times to a Chinese restaurant and like it and feel comfortable I'll order Sweet and Sour Pork. This dish is a good way to judge. If they use cheap or poorly cut pork you get too much fat or gristle and the dish sucks. Here it was wonderful, with with crispy fried pork slices stir-fried in the sauce so this is now my go-to Chinese restaurant. As a plus the owners are nice. He's Vietnamese and has family in Texas and Baton Rouge but does not speak English. No matter, we communicated. Btw I am calling this a Chinese restaurant based on the menu. In the US Vietnamese restaurants seem to serve pho but here in France the term Vietnamese seems to indicate some sort of Asian restaurant. Anyway this is good Chinese food that all should enjoy, even Americans."

"Restaurant really above my expectations. To start the waiter was very nice, the restaurant is very chic. I ordered a heavenly cocktail that I found extremely good, then I took a paved of romsteak bleeding, it happens and cooking is perfect, honestly I had never tasted such a tender meat and that requires so little effort to chew. To finish I took a chocolate mousse that was very good but the only thing to say on it is that there is a little too much and as it is quite sweet it gets a little bit of annoying. But it does not change my vision of this restaurant that I recommend 100%. Prices are not too low but are perfectly justified by the quality of food and service (I felt like I was in a gastronomic ahah . In short if you want a very good restaurant on Alès do not hesitate and go to it;"

"Le lieu est au premier abord sympathique : salles et terrase amples et confortables. La carte et le menu font la belle part à des plats cuisine du monde qui essaient de fusionner des mets et des saveurs européens et asiatiques. La carte des vins propose un éventail de crus intéressants mais que la serveuse, au demeurant très aimable, est incapable de présenter. Néanmoins, les vins finalement choisis par nos soins étaient bons tant à l 'apéritif que durant le repas. Les plats servis à bonne température nous ont donné l 'impression d 'une cuisine exécutée mécaniquement et sans grande conviction. Par exemple, le thon au lieu d 'être juste saisi était trop cuit ainsi que les frites qui l 'accompagnaient. En résumé, un établissement qui gagnerait à avoir plus de personnalité dans son offre (ne dit-on pas cuisine du monde cuisine de nulle part ? , plus d 'engagement technique en cuisine et des prix qui correspondent au niveau des plats servis. Ça a été ? nous a demandé à plusieurs reprises notre charmante serveuse. Nous aurions pu lui répondre que Oui, ça a été, mais pourrait être beaucoup mieux étant donné le potentiel du local ."

"I ordered Extra Royal couscous. The portion of semolina and sauce is very abundant and can be enough for two people. The lamb shank, the chicken leg and the two meatballs are also very generous. Vegetables for one person. I really enjoyed the spicy meatballs and the lamb shank. On the other hand, the merguez were greasy and uninteresting. The sauce was too red for my liking and lacked flavor. I also took a matlough pancake, which was not successful because it was heavy with, I think, a lack of kneading., but hey, he 's not a baker... Everything was hot and the packaging was ready to take away. is professional and practical, especially for heating by microwave just in case. Provide cutlery if necessary. The restaurant owner is very welcoming."

"Commander 1 omelette tartiflette dans le menu 26 euro une paysanne arrive à la place j en commande une 2eme toujours la paysanne qui arrive c est la 2eme fois que sa m arrive sur 3 visite je ne comprends pas pourtant j aime bien se restaurant mes toujours des problèmes avec la tartiflette je suis déçu pourquoi confondre paysanne est tartiflette en espérant que cela ne se reproduise plus a bientôt en espérant enfin avoir mon omelette amicalement à bientôt"

"I wanted to come and test this salad bowl since last summer. But I thought there was too many people, still crowded terrace. I chose to eat inside and I am delighted with my choice. The room is quiet, the staff provides a relatively fast service and with a smile. The salads are very copyy and so I didn't test the desserts it will be for the next time because I'll come back!"

"I went between Christmas and New Year. I was looking for a warm place for a friendly moment but where it was possible to discuss serious topics, in short a place where you feel comfortable. And Marie's workshop was perfect for that! Already, if you're a rum lover, they have a very good choice! The rum arranged coffee is also the best I could taste! It's very nice to meet up there for a drink in the evening... The lunch I made was delicious! Our choices focused on the half magret and the cevenol burger. Very successful meat cook! And the tiramisu has peanut, very original, is worth a lot to taste! A bit noisy because of the world, the setback of success, but as we were in the first service, we ended before the noise became really embarrassing for us. My only hic is that I found the meal a little expensive... What, I assure you, has not been a real problem since we have been regaled. I like to find the right addresses where the quality premiums on the rest, and if it is also a place where the price is more all budget is the cherry on the cake. Here, clearly, I will come back and advise him. To consider at the moment pleasure without counting. And for the rum! Yes, I insist, but what a nice surprise, and this moment was a delight!"

"After i hear loads of good things about that place ! I took a trip in this small town in the south of France. The restaurant is really pleasant nice decors and beautifully dress table. We start our tasting menu with two pre starters a black garlic espuma and a foie gras creme brulé. Which were delicious and promessing for the meal to follow. We choose from the menu three differents starters. One foie gras one courgette flower stuffed with langostine and a red snapper . The presentation was really beautiful but i was surprise to see that the garnish were almost the same on two dishes peas and broad beans for foie fras and the flower. So if you do not like those instead of having three others choices you will have two. And the same cooking technique for the fish like a mousseline for the snapper and the langostine. Which show not a lot of creativity after all. The main were still pretty but big deception at the table for the Lamb more fat that meat and again same garnish for everyone . A potato finely rolled and roasted. The texture of the potato was not even nice really floury ... The beef annonced a asparagus panna cotta and we end up with an aubergine croquette. While we were eating the chef appears at our table and say : C'est bon hein! it is good dough! and left without giving us a chance to complain about the wrong garnish or the false garnish on their menu. The chef shows a great confidence .... We had some cheese to follow here nothing to say high quality cheese nice bread to go with! And here come the desserts what should be the apogy of every meal , unfornutatly it was a big desappointement for each dessert choosen and so for each of us. A chocolate liegois with a really grainy mousse like the milk where off very unpleasant did not dare to go further... A strawberry and coriander the fresh strawberry were tasteless which is surprising in full seasons in south of france i bought some into the market on the morning they were amazing a gel and a pannacotta with so much gelatine into it was not nice to taste and for the coriander nothing else that micro herbs so another big let down i did not enjoy so i did not eat it. Like a baba again very pretty but absoluetly tasteless the baba was quasi inexistant not taste of rum so dry and a disc of gelatine flavor with pineapple this one has not been touch either. No one wonder why we send our plates full to the kitchen. The chefs were gone and so the manager... left with us the sommelier who was really nice and knowlegable. The wine list is good with little vine from this region . Overated over all! Very expensive for what you get . A big let down for the table not a place to remember!"

"Parking spacieux, terrasse aérée et ombragée ou si vous préférez une belle salle sont disponibles. Nous avons pris le classique menu entrée, plat, dessert. La carte des vins propose une belle diversité de crus du coteau du Languedoc avec de belles étiquettes: la grange des pères... Gauby en Vieilles Vignes et Muntada si vous aimez...mais aussi des bouteilles d'autres régions. Une mise en bouche est proposée et la carte présente 6 choix par entree , plats et desserts ce qui est agréable. Tout est bien présenté et agréable. La cuisine est travaillée avec des produits frais et les sensations en bouche sont variées grâce à des cuissons précises et des assemblages réfléchis. Dommage que le foie gras soit passé à 1 tranche au lieu des 2 précédemment et le filet de maigre aurait mérité d'être un peu plus copieux. Néanmoins le repas est très agréable et il se cloture sur un granité au cassis accompagné de miniardises au chocolat. A noter un millefeuilles aux fraises qui était très attirant."

"With our friends we have eaten here twice this week. The cote de boeuf, the Iberica pork steaks and the seafood platters have been very fresh and very delicious. Exceptional , honest food in unpretentious surroundings with attentive service and wonderful goodies to take home for our own BBQ from Christophe and his daughter. Can't wait to go again!"
