"We had the most amazing few days stay, at the Grand Hotel, in Grasmere. We stayed in room 44, which was a Classic Lodge. This was one of 5 lodges, just off the main hotel. The room did not disappoint, super, comfy king size bed, bath and shower with Molton Brown shower/bath and hand-wash. Breakfast was included. We had our evening meals in the hotel restaurant. All our food was absolutely delicious. We had a starter each. Classic Seafood Cocktail Dressed crab, crayfish, avocado mousse, lettuce Marie Rose dressing.Crispy Duck shredded duck leg, julienne of vegetables egg noodles salad with hoi sin sesame seed sauce. For our main, we had the, Chateaubriand -Fillet of beef cooked to your liking, served with chips, roquette , heritage tomato salad, buttered seasonal vegetables peppercorn sauce. Perfect to share between two. Absolutely superb. Louise, hotel manager is so lovely, very welcoming, polite and friendly. Her staff, were so friendly, helpful and attentive. They couldn't do enough for you.We bumped into Louise just outside the hotel, our first morning out. She advised us both of a lovely walk around Rydal Water. We was not disappointed. Would highly recommend hotel Grand, and will most definitely return. Thanks for a lovely stay.Date of stay: October 2021"

This hotel is sister hotel to Lytham St Ann's, we booked room 42, from the first time we saw it we thought wow, until Andy noticed terrace furniture broke, hole in wall behind door, bay window ledge full of scuffs, outside on terrace above patio doors damp ceiling looks as if falling in, around bay window lots of holes,if I had known so many problems I would not have paid £220 per night

would highly recommend this hotel, it is beautifully decorated, which is amazing and the staff is just so beautiful and helpful. they do everything they can do to make their stay as relaxing and stress-free as possible, for example we came to breakfast this morning with our young son and they had already set up a table for us with a high chair, reminded us of our order from the day before and brought us 2 milk with our hot drinks, as they have noticed, were a little short the day before! top service

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
