"Very disappointing for a TA #1. Looks like an up market Ice Cream parlour with plastic seats. Welcome very average. Knives and Forks arrive vertical in a glass no table cover, condiments or the like, paper napkins. The man who waits lacks the basic skills in presenting and putting down plates of food. Poor bread/rolls in an area where elsewhere it was just fabulous. Not helpful to my clam allergy because they would not serve the Hake dish without the Clams; I had to have salmon but with the ratatouille named for the hake dish. Cannot believe they make a Hake dish in advance with the Clams cooked in! Starter was Croquettas just four with a piece of Melon. No where else we went did not state on the menu the number of Croquettas and no where else was less than six. My wife's Cannelloni was extraordinary. It was one strip of about 15 cms length and of no diameter with no evidence of Béchamel sauce; distinctly dry, and very mean, like their Croquettas. Anyone with much of an appetite would have been shocked and hungry. On the menu it read like a great dish beware. Their whole approach to portion size extends to wines by the glass. The meanest measures in the smallest glasses of the week and no great quality either. Positives? Well two local families with children were eating there too, so they must be doing something right, but not in my eyes or taste. Very disappointed and then found our excellent B&B never send guests to El Somni for the reasons we found out and are now set out in this review."

Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €50–60

We had a very lovely evening at El Somni. The owner welcomed us on our arrival and was very charming, even though he spoke little English we managed to communicate with our basic Spanish. We shared two dishes for a starter and the tomatoes in pesto and fresh cheese was absolutely delicious. We both chose the minced chicken in tagliatelle which was very good and then couldn’t resist a dessert. It was all presented beautifully and really flavoursome. We will certainly return, also to wander around the old town in the daytime as it seems to be very interesting.

He desayunado dos veces.

Amazed that it appears that I am the first review of El Somni since 2018. No idea why, but I hope this serves as a 'fresh review '. The 'curb appeal ' of El Somni is fairly pedestrian, even to the point of plastic patio chairs on the deck!?!? But OMG please don 't be misled; the food was absolutely stunning, from entrees through dessert. I had the Llagostins en Tempura (Fritter shrimp) and I tasted some of what my daughter ordered (the Somni Salmo, fried rolls with salmon, cream cheese, panko, and tempura), and I am not sure I have ever had anything its equal. I have eaten all over the world and our dinner there may have just had all the planets in alignment, but my oh my what a meal.

"We had a meal consisting of the set menu, consisting of appetizers, main dishes and desserts. It was all wonderful. The restaurant served us a small appetizer with olives. We ordered as appetizers fried calamari, and croquetas of chicken and of cheese. Spanish croquetas have a thin crunchy breaded coat over a pasty filling. Both types were savory, and the cheese croquetas were filled with a kind of blue cheese, which kept its distinctive flavor but was not overpowering. Two groups of two diners shared two of the signature dishes at the restaurant: seafood paella, and seafood fideua. Fideua is a dish prepared much like paella, except using inch-long pieces of broken fideos, a fine noodle commonly used is Spain for soups, instead of rice. Both were excellent. I had the chicken, also very good. For desserts, we had chocolate soufflé with raspberry sauce which was not too sweet, just a little tart; sorbet de maracuya (passionfruit) which was also tart, but delicious in taste with a great consistency; mango ice cream, sweet and very creamy with a delicious flavor; requesón (a kind of creamy Spanish cheese) with layers of honey; and crema catalana, which is sort of like a Catalan version of flan with a surface of caramelized sugar, also delicious. All the desserts are house-made. The server was very polite, attentive and engaged, offering suggestions and demurrers as he felt necessary. The woman who served as the maitre d' was also very engaging, and described what were possibly her creations — the restaurant is small, and there were only the two of them in the dining room — lovingly, and made suggestions based on preference expressed. She may have been the owner; I didn't ask. I whole-heartedly recommend it for great food. It cost us €170 for 5 fixed-price dinners, a couple of glasses of wine, some soft drinks, a couple of bottles of water."
