"First time visiting The Holt with family this week and it did not disappoint! Hidden away at the bottom of town, this is a hidden gem that looks small on the outside but is actually a lovely and spacious place for a meal. The bar downstairs has a good range of beer, cider, wine and other drinks with a few spots to sit down and enjoy a drink with friends, with lots of interesting personality and decor. Upstairs the restaurant is a rustic yet stylish spot with lovely artwork on the walls and a great selection of food on offer (a small selection for vegans but delicious! . Food isn't necessarily the cheapest but as a small, family run business I'd rather pay a little more for the quality. The staff were all welcoming and smiling, despite the business just days before Christmas. A really wonderful experience and I can't wait to come back!"

The Holt is literally my favourite place on earth. The food is out of this world, the drinks are a plenty and the staff are incredibly accommodating. Fantastic food, wonderful ambience, great service. Possibly the best venison I've ever had, and a really generous portion. The house red was very good and went perfectly with the meal. Would have liked to see something a bit more interesting on the desserts list but still a wonderful evening in a great venue.

What an amazing place! We were met with a really friendly and warm welcome, were seated in their magical restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderfully delicious meal. After dinner we thoroughly enjoyed the evening listening to the band and dancing the night away. Joe was very attentive and professional on what was a very busy evening for him and his team, well done all of you and we will be returning soon. Merry Christmas happy New Year. Simon
