We called in at the Mathers on Friday night and had a few Belhavens plus a Glenlivet ! It's a proper no frills drinking house , open fire , nice staff behind the bar and a good atmosphere. Will definitely call in next time were...in Edinburgh.

Good range of drinks, clean premises and efficient staff. Comfortable establishment to enjoy a quiet drink and read of the paper. Great central location. Unlike the 80's cannot get 80 shilling cask conditioned heavy anymore. Those days are gone forever, but still a nice boozer!

This traditional pub in the heart of the West is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy affordable drinks, live entertainment, and football. The only downside is that some may see it as an establishment geared towards older patrons, but despite this, it still manages to maintain a lively atmosphere without being overly crowded. we stumbled by chance over this bar! with this last name one had to visit. it is a traditional Scottish pub, beautiful open fire and great staff. even was chatted with a beautiful Scottish man who helped us plan our next day. loving. all about how the pub came, a good story for our family name. it was very busy and by far the best place in edinburgh we visited!

I drink more liked, but most bars sell only strongbow and I don't like it. I'd say I hate it. my native has been closed for months, so I had to hunt around after a decent circulatory needle....A friend of mine was here and discovered the magners tape, so I came over and over again when I passed home. a large pint and very competitive prices in consideration of locality. only £3,90 per pint. brilliant.

we found the mathers bar last year during a trip to Edinburgh and enjoyed it so much that we visited again this year. we had deuchars indian pale ale, served by a pleasant, efficient barman. the bar is very popular with locals as there were some large tables of them that enjoy their drinks on both. the bar served definitiw cakes as they are kept warm in a hot cabinet, but I am not sure if they provide any other food products. drinks are very cheap and we will definitely return in 2021. The pub has recently undergone a modernization process that has not taken away from its original and traditional features. They have a wide selection of malt whisky, Cask-Ales, and artisanal beers. The wine list has been expanded, now offering four reds, one rosé, and four whites. The beer selection is extensive, featuring brands like Mill and Brooklyn. The spirits are also impressive, but the main attraction is the delicious steak platters. The portions are generous and the bar staff are friendly and easy to chat with.

The West End Hide provides a much-needed refuge from the loud burger joints and constant gloom of its surroundings. Located directly on Princes Street, Mathers is reminiscent of the cozy city center taverns of years past. With numerous screens showing live sports, a great selection of ales and malt, and a welcoming atmosphere that caters to both regulars and first-timers, this bar has something for everyone. The staff is friendly, and the bartender recommended the Bitter Twisted, a blonde beer with a refreshing zing that pairs perfectly with the laid-back atmosphere.

I left a review of mathers in 2017 when it badly needed some dc. I am pleased that the dings have been improved! Banquet seating places were sympatheticly recovered and the ceiling lights are now much more in tune with the place....All good improvements. mathers is often, inconspicuous, in my opinion, referred to as an old man pub, but it is so much more than that when given a chance. There are many older customers during the day, but they come here because they are treated with respect and friendliness by the personal. mathers is all about talking. I spent a nice afternoon with a guy in the same age as I had never met. we were clearly of very different backgrounds, but that was not importan... Visualizza piatti
