The Black Swan Ockham

My second visit and it was just as good as the first. A lovely long boozy lunch with friends. Food exquisite. Ate from the Xmas menu and the turkey was delicious (not dry at all). An amazing espresso martini too. A firm favourite.

Excellent Sunday Roast! Beef was delicious…. Very tender and pink in the middle. Huge Yorkshire and amazing cauliflower cheese. Pork belly was well seasoned and tasted delightful. Big portions and excellent service. Thanks for a great lunch. 5 stars well deserved!

Outstanding food, excellent service and a beautiful location. Manager and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was to die for, I particularly recommend the baked camembert the roasted garlic and honey take it to another level. Absolutely perfect scotch egg also. Can't wait to come back again. A lovely meal cuttlefish pasta and pork chop with harissa tomatoes. Food was great, quality ingredients used well, and my pork chop was succulent and perfectly cooked. The wine list had a French bias which suited us, the owners were welcoming and charming, and service was excellent. We will definitely return here.

the food is fantastic. the environment too! but we believe the pricing is overpriced with 12.5% of service charge, it’s a pub with food at the end, not a fine dining reataurant. We will probably be back as it’s super dog friendly. Not recommend the buffalo wings, taste is okay, not as proper as other restaurant and the portion is so small, the wings are mini sized! My burger is cooked nicely and all our mains are. Did’t try a dessert as the menu is not very attractive.

We went to the black swan for our friends’ wedding yesterday and can’t rate it any higher! The food was absolutely to die for! And the staff, specifically the owner Barbara and the lovely Asta were so attentive and friendly. We even went back again today for lunch because we enjoyed it so much. We love coming to classic car meets in summer and have never had a bad experience at this pub. The pub was presented absolutely beautifully. This used to be a very warm and inviting pub, I've been cycling here for many years, and today I visited, only to discover that the small gate from the road was blocked off with logs, I then tried to enter via the Car park only to discover a similar pile of wood on the other side, which I climbed over carrying my bike (i only wanted a couple of pints), it would seem that as the only through route to the pub benches at front of house is through the Restaurant that Cyclists and anyone else entering off the road is not welcome, great shame, why have you done this?

We held a work summer party at The Black Swan. We received excellent service, food and drink. The staff were polite and very helpful and all dietary requirements were provided for. The care and attention given to detail was superb. Food presentation was excellent, The staff ensured nothing was omitted and were a pleasure to work with in advance of the event and on the day. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance and food. The venue is beautiful. We were fortunate to be able to dine outside all afternoon which added to the great atmosphere. We would highly recommend The Black Swan to everyone.

Can the owners of this restaurant please support your staff more by having more staff working at a time? They need twice as many staff as are rostered on. Despite being heavily understaffed, the staff work super hard and still doing it with a smile on their face. Each visit we’ve waited a long time to be seated, served and fed, and there were so many finished meals still on tables because the staff are too busy to cope. This restaurant has all the ingredients to be 5/5 delicious food, beautiful building and setting, well stocked bar, music, friendly and caring staff, good number of parking spaces, and great vibe overall just hire more staff.
