Excellent pies and crispy chips, beer well kept, friendly service. Not all pubs serve lunch on a Monday, this one did, much to our relief.

We sat in the garden on a busy Sunday and shared the excellent entree platter. The service was prompt and very friendly. We loved the beer too. Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Came in the other night, was greeted by a lovely young lady by the name of daisy I believe. I enjoyed a lovley glass of wine and a delicious chicken and mushroom pie. Honestly, it blew me away. Excellent service from the friendly staff and the pastry pies are fantastic!! I always used to get the puff pastry but the shortcrust is incredible and will be my top choice going forward. Seems to be quite a poorly run establishment. Arrived mid walk for a pint can’t go to the bar, have to order at a sort of gate line at the front and then be seated, albeit in some fairly basic ‘bar stools’ in the far right corner of the garden (other tables reserved for diners). Didn’t understand why they don’t just let people who want a drink from the bar go to the bar. Anyway, after waiting 20 mins with no sign of drinks, I headed to get my refund. They also didn’t have two of the main draught beers available. Place felt overran and not very capable.

This was my first time visiting the bull and butcher with my husband and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I tired out the lamb and mint shortcrust pie and it exceeded all expectations. My husband also had the steak and ale pie and he hasn’t stopped going on about it since !!! We cant wait to revisit and we will definitely have to bring some of our friends. We were served by a lovely young lady I believe her name was Daisy. She was very polite, extremely helpful when helping us with menu choices and was also very knowledgeable on the pubs history.
