"On a wet and windy Saturday morning four of us were in need of hearty breakfast. We weren't disappointed. Virtually every eatery in Portree was closed for some reason. As we trudged around town through the wind and rain, the unmistakable smell of fried bacon filled our nostrils. We followed our noses and were led to The Caledonian Cafe. Not long after sitting at a table, we were warmly greeted by one of the staff. She took our order large quantities of fried food, tea and Irn Bru. The drinks soon arrived, followed by our fried breakfasts. Now, I do like a fried breakfast, and this one was exceptional. All of the food arrived without any grease on the plate. The fried egg was perfect slightly frilly and crispy around the edges with a lovely runny yolk. I'd never had a tattie scone or a Lorne sausage before both were delicious. We left the cafe more than satisfied with full bellies and smiles on our faces.... despite the driving rain!"

good food. prompt service. platz is busy and not big. fast to get a table if they only 2 longer for larger groups. we enjoyed the meal.

AMAZING FOOD!!! best we’ve had so far in all our roadtrip. The curly fries are a must!!!!! we tried the pulled pork burger and halloumi wrap and both were exceptional, the service was also super nice and fast. Loved it!!!!

friendly staff, nice eating, fast service and value for money. I tried the haggis stack with black pudding and chips. the honey with sneaky dressing really compliments the court. highly recommended. also the heavenly and/or the ice of ironbru is worth it.

I remember going there on our first to Scottland back in 2008 and it was great, I was forgotten about the name and even the location and during the visit portree we saw the restaurant and it was like a dejavu so we need to enter. it was full and we were 5, but at the end they could fit us: we ordered the burgers. wow as good as last time, amazing! so glad that after almost 10 years I can put a name on this fantastic burger: the staff was very friendly and beautiful. highly recommended!

This place doesn 't take reservation so you need to be patient, but it is definitely worth it. The food is great, the choice of local alcohols as well. We had three different Scottish beers. We also had two different burgers, one normal nd one vegan, very good. The fish was delicious and the chicken dish was very good as well. The waitresses are lovely and very efficient, and serve you with a great smile. The ambiance is really nice with a bit of music but not too much. The service is quick and the place is clean. I would definitely go there again, therefore I obviously recommend! Approximately 25 pounds per person, I 'm using drinks and deserts.
