"I went to this restaurant with some friends for dinner. We all liked the food and found the prices to be reasonable. My only complaint is that I wished there was more custard with my crumble, as the half-full jug was not enough. The staff were friendly and the service was good, but I had mentioned my disability when booking online and was disappointed to find our table was down steps and far from the entrance and toilets. Additionally, there was no designated disabled parking space, which made it challenging for me as the car park was full. Because of these factors, I likely won't be returning to this restaurant."

Our first time here, and will come again. The food was lovely and the service attentive. The lounge bar looked very welcoming and cosy. Nice, friendly staff.

This charming pub offers delicious food, particularly on Sundays with their exceptional Sunday lunch menu, and the service is top-notch. I have visited many times and the quality has always been consistently excellent.

Lovely catch up with friends. Afternoon tea and cake yesterday afternoon. Sat outside. Lovely staff, friendly locals. Have had Sunday roast here and dessert here before. Lovely place, good food. One to return to. Thanks

We met friends for dinner in a Sunday. It’s not easy to find a quality gastropub offering a full menu on a Sunday evening. The Carnarvon Arms was excellent. A great choice of food, very friendly service and very high quality.

I had a wonderful time catching up with friends over a delicious meal. The restaurant was quiet yet bustling, which added to the enjoyable atmosphere. The food was excellent, with choices such as fish and chips, vegetable risotto, steak pie, and fish pie.

My wife and I literally fell across this pub several years ago when we travelled to the southwest. The atmosphere is excellent, staff are friendly and very obliging. The food is great and the portions are good too, prices are very competitive. We will use this pub every time we head south.

A nice gastropub with a friendly atmosphere. We had a good dinner and can recommend the trout fishcakes, delicious cauliflower soup and perfectly cooked steak. As well as the best chips we've had anywhere! However the mushroom arancini were disappointing, mainly because they were smothered in an over-dressed salad with an overly sweet dressing.

Came in for the last time on a Saturday. I asked whether I could order chips at 20:40, to be told the chef said he’s not cooking anymore? The website states food serving times till 21:30. I would have gone somewhere else if I had known. Not surprising this pub never finds it place in the market, inconsistent service/ no continuity of expectation, how can anyone expect to frequent this location when they make up the rules depending on whether they’re happy to do their job or not. Really poor, the service hasn’t been consistent in the past

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
