Although we have eaten here many times before, today had to be the slowest service ever. Whilst the food was very good, the service albeit good, was appalling slow. Although we had sat for over ten minutes, and had asked for our order to be taken, we still had to wait a further ten minutes to be served. Considering this was at the start of the meal service for Sunday lunch, it took far too long.

If you want good food in a nice pub setting this is the place for you. 2 sides to the menu for you to choose from. The tempura vegetables were good with a very tasty sweet chilli sauce to dip them in and there was plenty of it. I had the fish with samphire, potatoes and hollandaise sauce, very nice, if my only criticism was the skin was very well cooked but the fish was still moist. My husband had the bakewell tart to finish and said it was lovely. All washed down with a bottle of Albarino.

Went for a walk this afternoon and popped in on the intention of having one but accidently overstayed my welcome, which is a compliment to the place. All the front of house staff were fantastic; very friendly welcoming. Brilliant venue with an amazing open fire. Not sure if she was supervisor or manager but on exit she recommended a lovely bottle of red for me when i got back. Can't comment on the food tonight but have eaten here before and it's been great. Such friendly staff who were so helpful with my dietary requirements. I am severely allergic to eggs, peanuts, hazelnuts and soya. The manager came out with a menu marked up from the chef of what meals I can can’t have and which ones they could adapt. They were all so lovely and made me feel really safe with the food items. I had a chicken burger (they swapped the brioche bun for a ciabatta) and then homemade apple crumble (pictured below). Highly recommend for anyone with allergies or food restrictions.

So, this is very local to me and I have sadly watched it go down and down. Menu is not fantastic and it’s very over priced. £18.50 for a chicken roast unless you like one of the desserts included on the two course menu if not you’re screwed for another £7.50 ish. Staff are nowhere near as good as they used to be. They are quite gruff and appear to be inexperienced. I heard one having a very regrettable disagreement with one table who were complaining that they didn’t like the choice of included desserts. He basically said ‘tough’. I see that it’s on the market again and I think that’s a perfect opportunity it’s to get some new blood in here before it’s gone altogether. The locals do not talk...

Booked as a surprise for my nieces Birthday. Sadly unimpressed starter asparagus poached egg hollandaise was served cold with watery egg. The pickled melon. with parma ham tasted like cloves not pleasant. Mains edible but covered in gravy which is ok if you like gravy served warm not hot. Glasses not clean. Our table was not cleaned from the last diners. I asked them to clean the table gentleman came spraying some cleaner on the dirty spots covering the cutlery I feel very disappointed as we had high hopes. My Nephew ordered from the other side of menu chicken burger very dry. The drinks are expensive . Overall not good we didn't order desert or coffee. I really do think long and hard about...
