"Family of 5 stopped here for lunch. Albeit 2 of our party really wanted a traditional English breakfast which wasn’t on the menu. The landlord promptly said he would try his best to provide one and asked for a list of what breakfast items they wanted. We also ordered a jacket potato and a child’s meal. Whilst we were waiting we asked the landlord if there was a convenience store nearby as we had run out of bed. (We were holidaying on a narrow boat so limited to where we could get to for shop). He told us that there wasn’t anywhere nearby. However when our food was served up, the landlord placed a new loaf of bread on the table! He hasn’t got any bacon for said breakfasts so had dashed out to buy some and at the same time bought us a loaf of bread. We were so thankful and what a lovely kind thing to do. This pub, the landlord and the chap who was doing the cooking was one of the highlights of our trip. Such friendly people, spotlessly clean pub and facilities. Will definitely go back one day. Thank you"

The menu had plenty of great options to choose from. Fortunately, we were able to enjoy our coffee outside after our meal and watch the boats passing by. We plan to return in August.

My girlfriend and I just happened to pop in on the way home. We had a starter and a main each and thoroughly enjoyed each course. The landlord was extremely attentive and friendly. Suffice to say that we will definitely be going again and recommend the restaurant 100

During our canal boat vacation, we stopped by this narrowboat restaurant in both directions. They offer a great selection of delicious food and are pet-friendly. The owner was extremely accommodating and the location was perfect for docking our boat and enjoying a nice walk. The outdoor gardens have beautiful views of the canal.

This is a pub/restaurant, next to the canal, so a lot of the customers are boat people…some on holiday and some who live on their boats permanently. You always get a good welcome, and food is better than the normal pub grub. It has retained its character inside, but on a warm summer evening just relax watching the boats passing by. I have been to this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed the delicious food and drinks. The owner always goes above and beyond to provide excellent service. The menu consists of traditional pub fare, offering good value meals without any frills. The selection of real ales is impressive and they are consistently well-maintained.

Overnighted outside on our narrow boat holiday last Sunday. Called ahead as Trip Advisor site said it was closed to find kitchen closed but open for drinks. Martin, the licensee, was really welcoming and friendly and generously facilitated us ordering an Indian takeaway, providing us with plates and cutlery and washing up for us. Truly fabulous host, recommend you stop there.

We stopped here for food and a relaxing drink next to the river and were given a really friendly welcome by the landlord. The pub is in a nice location, right on the river and the food was hearty and plentiful. It has a nice outside area next to the river to sit in the sun and enjoy a pint while watching the boats on the river. Nice, relaxed and welcoming, just what you want in a pub. Visualizza piatti

We came to this great canal side pub during our holiday on a canal boat as party of four. We moored up one evening and headed to this pub. Well it was simply Devine. The service from the bar and kitchen was second to none. The food was homemade and very very enjoyable. We decided to return on our way back to Whitchurch marina and moor up for the day/night and popped in for lunch and stayed for several hours enjoying beer and wine. Honestly if you are passing through you must stop by this well run and exceptionally friendly pub. Thank you guys.

We used to go here regularly on a Sunday with my Mum and Dad when lunch was £1.99 and incredibly good value. I have been a few times since then usually on route home from Stoke Hospital in times of stress. From the very beginning Martin was there but I was sad to hear the older gentleman who used to greet us in those early days was no longer with us. A beautiful day we sat outside with Nesta from The Racecourse and Ken who used to be our Vet. We ordered our food and drinks and I'm pleased to say all was as was expected and so nice to have Narrowboats passing by regularly. Our dogs Smot Border Collie), Teasel Border Terrier) and our current Boarder Yoshi Labrador) were all made welcome by eve...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
