"After avoiding this restaurant for some time, my group of 5 decided to give it another chance. Two of us went up to the counter to place our orders and were served by a pleasant young lady with glasses. However, she seemed confused about taking our orders separately. Unfortunately, they were out of scampi, so we had to make a different selection. After finally giving our orders, we waited 30 minutes for our food while others around us who arrived after us were served promptly. When we inquired about our food, we were told it was on its way. Eventually, we received our meals after others had finished eating and left. Despite questioning a staff member about the delay, we were given excuses about being busy. A simple apology for the wait would have been appreciated, but instead, we felt ignored and fobbed off with weak excuses. It's clear that mistakes happen, but proper acknowledgment and apologies from the staff would have made a difference. This experience has left us feeling unsatisfied and we will not be returning."

We stopped here for lunch and the staff were pleasant and welcoming. We soon had our tea and food which was freshly cooked and very tasty. A nice place to eat.

Our daughter has just moved to Hailsham and ate here with her carers on her first day after coming across this cafe late afternoon. We had a selection of meals, vegetarian and non vegetarian. We all really enjoyed the food and was all freshly cooked. The owners/staff were very friendly and our daughter told them how much she enjoyed her meal.

Ordered 3 breakfasts and waited over an hour and a half. Tried phoning restaurant which was engaged off the hook (and still is). Decided to drive down to see what was happening to see restaurant basically empty and my order got cancelled as I stood in the doorway. Didnt bother to go in and argue as i was completed defeated at this point. I should never have to drive to the restaurant to find out what's happening with my order. Totally unacceptable and won't ever be ordering wasting my day on this cafe again. Such a shame.

I used Tripadvisor #7 to find a cafe in Hailsham where I could pick up bacon egg sandwiches for a surprise brunch with my daughter's family. The cafe confirmed they offer collections and provided me with clear directions (including free parking). The bacon egg baguette was delicious, well-wrapped, and hot with perfectly cooked eggs. I was also offered sauces and napkins to take with me. The cafe was busy, which is always a good sign. I will definitely be returning, as will my daughter and her family. Thank you for a great brunch! Visualizza piatti

I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was okay, nothing special. I felt that there was too much Hollandaise sauce on my plate, which made it a bit overwhelming. It would have been better with a smaller amount. Despite this, the dish was good overall. My partner had a small breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, and bacon, which was delicious. The sausages were high quality, not the usual cheap ones. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the hash browns were crispy. It was a job well done. We will come back to this restaurant, but I will probably skip the eggs Benedict next time, even though it is my favorite breakfast dish.

We go in here on a regular basis to meet friends for coffee, it is delicious. We sometimes have food that is also good value and very tasty. Now some people reading may not agree, but there is quite often an elderly man in there who absolutely stinks of dried wee, and worse. His clothes are dirty and he looks unwashed. The staff are very kind to him, but I honestly think they are losing customers because of this man. The tables anywhere near him are vacated quickly and no one fills them until he has left. I’m sure there must be a gentle way of helping this man, rather than giving him food and drink? Other than that, we love this little cafe. But in future won’t go in if we see him.

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
