"Excavator is always an excellent place to eat! Lovely staff and amazing food! Always clean and tidy and quick service! I did not get the young ladies name who served us tonight but she had short pinkish hair and was up for a laugh! — always nice when working in customer service myself! Thank you so much! A regular customer. Dietary restrictions: My mother is celiac and always gets a variety of meals to choose from which is always nice as we can struggle sometimes when eating out!"

"I recently dined at this restaurant for brunch and it was a delightful experience. The price per person was between £10–20, which I found to be reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. The food was top-notch, earning a solid 5 out of 5 rating. I highly recommend trying the bakery items, particularly the focaccia, croissant, coffee cake, and sausage roll. Each dish was freshly made and bursting with flavor. The service was excellent as well, with attentive staff who made sure we were well taken care of throughout our meal. "I visited on Saturday, December 30, for an evening meal that included a bottle of wine. We upgraded to a room with a spa bath, which I highly recommend! This was a special 60th birthday treat for my partner, and I was lucky enough to join him. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. We were in need of some relaxation, and we certainly found it. When we entered our room, we both exclaimed, "Wow!" Our dinner was just as impressive. Every member of the staff we encountered—from the hotel reception to the bar and dining staff—was wonderful and friendly. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for this amazing experience. We had a wonderful visit and hope to return soon!"

"We were very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. When we were seated at our table, there was a sign indicating that it was reserved at 10:30, which made us feel like an inconvenience. The service was very poor, despite being told that unlimited tea and coffee were included with our meal. Throughout the hour and a half we were there, we were never asked if everything was okay and had to repeatedly ask for more drinks. The Prosecco we ordered was served in unopened bottles, and the breakfast made with cheap supermarket bread was dry and bland. We were frustrated by the lack of attention and had to even ask for a napkin. When we finally left, we were not asked about our experience, which made us realize that they knew their service was subpar. This experience was supposed to be a birthday gift, but instead it left us feeling upset and dissatisfied. We would not recommend dining at this restaurant."

"Lovely chilled pub, friendly and knowledgeable staff, tasteful decor and very dog friendly. We booked a table because we were camping nearby. However, the phone number on google is out of date (current owners have been in place since last August 2023). I found the new number in Facebook and had a prompt response on Messenger. They are good ale pub, reasonably priced and have been serving food again for the last 3 months apparently (been a couple of changes in ownership). Sunday roast was excellent served with fresh vegetables at £13.95. Very pleased we kept our reservation after reading a bad review on here"
