"Surprisingly lively for early on a Saturday evening. Mainly diners but some drinkers as well. Good friendly service and quick as plenty of staff. Table (for 5) quickly available (in the bar) and typical pub grub served within 10 minutes or so. 3 hand pulled beers available although 2 were very similar blondes. Car park a bit small for the popularity of the pub but street parking appeared to be acceptable as well. Really is worth a visit."

"The fish and chips were fantastic! We are visiting family in the UK and had a large group, adults, a teenager and two children total). We were able to book a table and it was ready as soon as we arrived. Our family who lives in the UK were very impressed as well, they commented that this was proper fish and chips. Definitely try the mushy peas! I had never heard of them but they were out of this world good!! Miller’s was awesome, service was great, food was great and we loved it. We are spoiled and will compare all other fish and chips against Miller’s."

"Visiting York on holiday and came for a meal with family. Wonderful place. The food is so fresh and tasty, very generous portions but not at the expense of outstanding quality. Service is warm and friendly. The restaurant is decorated simply and comfortably. If even back in the area we will ensure that we return. "We went to The Parvin for an alternative family dinner. on Christmas Day. As a vegetarian, I should have realised that the £25 per head, buffet option was not good value for me personally as there was very limited choice of vegetarian dishes available and I should have ordered from the main menu and had freshly cooked food at a better price. I accept responsibility for not working that out but it would have been helpful if the waiter had brought this to my attention. To be fair, he did allow me to choose an additional veggie side dish to bulk up the abysmal buffet choice but I needn't have bothered as it was no better than the brussel sprout bhaji from the buffet. Did the chef honestly believe that this dish was a good idea? or was it some kind of Christmas joke? Overcooked brussel sprouts kept warm in a sauce all day are going to be sloppy and slimy which they were..........and this dish tasted every bit as bad as it looked. The meat-eaters in my party were equally disappointed in the turkey tikka masala which was their main dish option. I find it hard to believe that they had the cheek to serve any of the buffet dishes as part of a celebratory Christmas feast. The best thing about it was the rice which was fluffy and edible."

"We were staying at Griffon Forest and get 10% off the bill.It was our 30th wedding anniversary and we had pre booked a table.On entering the restaurant the noise was deafening and we were unable to hear what the waiting staff were saying.There was a large party there including very young children who would not behave and whose parents ignored what they were doing.At one point the children forced of the fire exits and still no rebuke from the adults.The staff were overwhelmed by the party but still managed to sort out the rest of the guests and soon the restaurant was full.My wife has to have Gluten Free food as she is Ceoliac and the menu caters for special diets.The food was very tasty and plentiful and once the children had gone it all quietened down.Advisable to check your bill as there is a suggested tip level from 12-18% but you can give your own."
