"Had noticed the many great reviews of this restaurant so had to try it out. Got an outdoor table for two having first been seated at one indoors where it was much too warm. Nice friendly staff took our order quickly. I ordered the veal and asked how it would be served .. with pasta in tomato sauce on the side. Later I noticed others being offered a side of potatoe as an option if had I known this is what I would have chosen ... black mark for the waiter! My wife ordered Tagliatelli in tomato sauce with meat balls ... 3 meat balls ! The veal was breaded but very dry and lacking in flavour. I told the waiter who accepted my criticism fairly and was honest in saying they were keen to understand any valid criticism as it would help them improve on the dish in the future. We finished with 2 cappucinos. Total bill 45 euro including 1l bottle of water. No discount for the disappointment Im afraid .. another black mark this time for the owners."

First visit to this Italian restaurant. Friendly servants and the recommended Puglia wine was excellent. Both pizza were well done and very tasty. Definitely good value for money.

lovely food and service - we felt the portions were very generous. The price was maybe on the high side for pasta and pizza 180 euros for 4 of us but it was in the heart of Sainte Maxime !

We stopped for lunch on a really hot day and the service was swift and relatively friendly. I had the caprese pizza which was a little unusual and very tasty. Lovely cold wine on a hot day too! Definitely works with a family with kids who just need a simple pizza!

I have walked past this restaurant many times over many years without giving it much of a thought. Why eat Italian food in the South of France? But how wrong I was! I enjoyed the best Siciliana pizza that I have ever had! Charming service, reasonable prices and great food. Visualizza piatti

This Trattoria offered a very nice meal with good fresh food. On the night we visited, they seemed a little overwhelmed and service was therefore lacking - so a little slow but still acceptable given the quality of the food at a very reasonable price. A very good option in Saint Maxine

We visited Trattoria Mamma Mia on our first evening in Sainte-Maxime. It proved to be a good choice! Mamma Mia has indoor and outdoor seating, and we cooled down indoor. The restaurant was quite busy on this evening, but after a while we got our pastas and pizza, shared between our children. Pastas (arrabiata and parmigiano) were tasteful. The children also enjoyed their pizza Margherita.Total bill including soft drinks and a bottle of Barbeirane rose was 94 Euros.

We visited Mamma Mia 4 nights out of 7, so tells you how much we loved this place. Pizzas were cooked perfectly and plenty of topping, my wife enjoyed all her pastas too. Generally the main course and a sambuca were enough for us but on our last night we had a panacotta, which we shared, it was delicious.Service is excellent and given it is always nearly full says it all. Definitely recommend this restaurant for food and service and added to that prices for Sainte Maxime are very reasonable. Visualizza piatti

Sat down and first service was quick, they took our order and we heard nothing from them for the next 50 minutes as we waited for our starter. No bread, water or olive oil brought to us like the other tables. We had our starter (no problem, tasted nice but a little dry) then there was a short wait for our main, my carbonara was bland, no salt or pepper! Scrambles eggs with spaghetti noodles, no cheese or flavour in sauce at all! Huge dissapointment and plate of food was not touched. When told about this no effort was to be made to take meal off the bill and they were hugely defensive about the food. We then waited half an hour after asking for the bill for the bill to be received.

A recent review of Mamma Mia suggested the food and service is poor. Nonsense. Mamma Mia is a typical, good, Italian restaurant with the typical Italian welcome and service. The food is excellent, especially the pizzas. I have always popped in when in St Maxime. My favourite is Pizza Napoli. The grilled mussels are great too. Wash down with draft Peroni or choose from the OK wine list. Your wallet won't suffer much damage. Why won't I return? I visited on a Tuesday. There was plenty of room. BUT, I am a widower and travel alone. I was stuck at the worst table by the loo (after the waitress consulted with the manager)! Everyone going for a pee passed close by. Silly really. I visit in spring...

"It was the best of meals, The second, not so much. On the Wednesday evening we explained that we needed one gluten free meal. We were immediately handed over to a charming lady, who we took to be the proprietor. She assured us that she would confer with the chef. We ordered a “coquelet roti” with a cream and grape sauce and a fillet steak served without sauces. Chips were covered in gluten but the chef proposed a salad for the steak and the “coquelet” came with a Gratin Dauphinoise. All the food was delicious. The chicken was soft and sweet the sauce had a depth of flavour aided and abeted by the small bursts of sweet grape juice from the grapes within it. The steak was perfect; maximum of flavour from the seared outside, maximum of soft juiciness from the tender pink interior. Dessert was a fruit crumble that had not had the crumble added, pronounced delicious, and a crème broulee. The crème was not a traditional baked vanilla egg custard. It tasted like a flour based preparation and was devoid of vanilla. All in all, the service had been attentive and the food mostly great. We determined that we would return for a second meal and looked forward to it.Mistake! Sunday evening, the waitress remembered us, and promised to check for gluten free food. She checked the Champaign sauce that was served with the Salmon. We could not have it. She was not aware that the rice, the dauphinoise and the chips all contained gluten. She suggested salad. We said that would be fine. The Dorade Royale, one of my favourite fish was sold out but they could offer Sea Bass. O.K., that would do. The salad delivered with the dry salmon was a simple bag mix of leaves, not the fresh mixed salad it had been four days before. It had brown stalks and tasted stale. The fish was undoubtedly the worst cooked fish I have ever been served. It had clearly been laid on a metal tray and placed under an electric grill. It had not been turned or moved until it was served. Consequently, the top skin was like leather. It defied my efforts with the serrated knife provided to cut through it. I had to prize it off to get to the very dry fish beneath. A simple glaze of oil would have ensured that the skin became crispy and a delicious part of the fish. It would also have ensured that the (Chef?) remembered to turn the fish under the grill. When I turned the fish on the plate, the lower side skin was a soggy mess where all the juices had soaked it through. Scraping it off, the second fillet was edible, despite the attentions of the chef. We told the waitress what was wrong with our food. She said she would tell the chef. We don’t know if she did. We did not see him."
