"Great relaxed atmosphere sitting out on the wide terrace overlooking the market square though you can sit inside in the very traditional french decor dining room. The Food is Traditional French with no pretensions. The cost of the food was a fraction of that in...Basel, but no worse and frankly better in quality. The wine was a 1/4 of the price in Basel and we had a very good bottle of Cote du Rhone Village Cairanne at well under €20 which would buy you a middling glass of wine in Basel. I had superb Alsace Garlic Snails followed by a very succulent Beef Fillet in cream pepper sauce which was cooked to perfection. A short bus trip out of Basel across the border into France, this is a transformation in character and prices. Feeling rather run down in comparison to wealthy Basel, it offers very good food at a fraction of the cost of food in Basel. St Louis is effectively a opart of Basel but in France. One word of warning. There are pick pockets. A friend in our group had over €400 stolen from his wallet in his jacket hung over the back of his chair. They took the wallet to remove the money and then returned it to his pocket unnoticed. My Creme Brulee was good and far better than the one we had in Switzerland at four times the cost."

perfect, friendly staff and good food! even if they only go for a drink, it will still be a pleasant experience to visit a restaurant!

this beautiful place was recently taken over. no changes and improvements were made. an unpleasant service leads to a very cloudy and popular place being turned into nothing. what a shame. excellent location, but the soul of the place is gone

Since the place was taken over, situation has slightly improved since sun has started to be often in the bar. Restaurant will still have to improve in order to attract new crowd in this well located place. A total refurbishment will do as well. Bring...a new soul to this place

On a Monday night in late January there are not a lot of places to choose from for an evening meal. After scouting the area I decided to try here. Given the day and the month the place was reasonably busy, mainly with locals; some just drinking/playing cards etc. and some eating. I had a good rump steak washed down with a couple of beers.

We stumbled across this place on our walk from Basel where we are staying for business. De la Post is a local pub so the decor is very rustic and it is full of locals so visitors seem out of place BUT the waitress made...us feel welcome although we couldn’t speak French and the food was excellent. I had the veal with mushrooms and the of us from Australia, UK, Hungary and Australia who travel extensively for work all agreed that they make the best cheese pizza ever. Thank you for making a memorable evening. Shhhh, it’s a hidden treasure

I admit from the outside this restaurant does not look very inviting, and maybe even inside it is nothing special. But this is a great little gem with local people and simple French comfort food at its best.Lunchtime this place if very busy indeed, therefore you may have to wait a while for your lunch, however it was well worth the wait. The portions are huge so make sure you are hungry. Couscous with Chicken, Lamb with roast potatoes, Mussels, Snails. Service is not great but not bad either, after all you will come here for the food and the food alone.

I ate there twice, and both times the other patrons appeared to be either working stiffs or pensioners; some eating, some nursing beers. The furnishings and "ambience" were zilch. But I had one of the best escalope de veau a la creme ever. The rest of the menu is standard, traditional French, which is what I wanted and is increasingly hard to find. Note to budget travelers: Prices at restaurants in the St Louis (Basel Airport) area are not much more than half of what you pay across the border in Switzerland. If I'm ever again at Basle Airport, you can bet I'll be back to Restaurant de la Poste.

"Cheval Blanc is the ultimate classic French fine dining experience in Switzerland. We came here to celebrate my birthday while in Switzerland looking for a 3 Michelin stars experience. Located in the historical Grand Hotel Les Trois Rios. The riverside setting is charming and romantic. You start by a welcome drink at the terrace looking at the Rhine greeted by suited , polite and professional staff. The head chef Peter Knogl came to say hi before we moved to the main dining room and service started. The decor and interior is classy retro French with high ceilings, arches, classic chandeliers, large windows and round tables with candles. Ambience is warm and intimate. Service was top notch and impeccable. Staff were all knowledgeable with refreshing attention to details. Cuisine was modern french with Mediterranean influences, flavors were complex and dynamic. Ingredients were chosen carefully and courses were presented beautifully. I liked all of my courses, highlights of the menu were the Sardine Macaron, Langoustine curry, Red Mullet filet and the French saddle of lamb with mediterranean flavors. Wine pairing was excellent and enhanced every course taste and flavor. Sommelier was very professional and knowledgeable yet intimidating a bit. The French Cheese selections from Maître Antony in Ferrette was aromatic, rich and satisfying, Maître Antony is one of the best in the world that many Michelin starred Chefs get their fine cheeses selection from. The night ended well with a couple of delightful desserts courses, few delectable bites and some velvety chocolate. Overall, we had an elevated fine dining experience that will bring me back if in Basel again."
