"We popped into this pub after taking a diversion off the M11 on our way to Stansted, due to heavy traffic caused by a car accident. Given the time we decided to stop for food before we got to our hotel so we were fed and watered (we have two boys who love to eat). What a choice if pub we made! We were very warmly welcomed by there bar staff and sat in a very cosy part of the pub. The food was great and exactly what was needed. Decided to go for the Rib eye steak and was not let down, but the star of the show was the peppercorn sauce! The rest of the family enjoyed their meals and we would recommend this place to anyone."

Really nice meal, service was good too. Hubby said his steak was one of the best he’d had. Nice drinks, can’t complain at all. Definitely recommend.

The room was well appointed and clean. Unfortunately due to the northerly winds the room was on the direct flight path to Stansted obviously not under the control of the hotel The door lock was broken and so I put a chair against it overnight. I did report it

My mother and I visited The Star for a meal on Saturday night which was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was the food amazing (compliments to Caitlin, the Chef) but the service from Abbie was equally great. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again soon.

Took my Mum here for a meal and we both had wonderful food, served by lovely staff in a great terrace area. Can highly recommend any meal on their menu as always of restaurant standards in a warm and friendly pub environment. Parking right outside too which is unusual in Thaxted! Visualizza piatti

We had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent, fresh and made to order. We all had the Sunday roast, followed by delicious desserts to share. The restaurant is dog-friendly, and our little dog even got his own bowl of water and a blanket.

I discovered this restaurant with my mom, wife, and dog (not necessarily in that order) while we were getting hungry and pressed for time. The barmaid was fabulous, the chef was skilled, they had a great selection of real ales, fantastic food, and the locals were friendly and easy to talk to. The restaurant is dog-friendly with a lovely garden. I wish we had a place like this in our town! I highly recommend it. The village is also charming, be sure to check out the windmill.
