"I had a wonderful stay at this restaurant. The manager and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The meal at the Clive Arms was beautiful. Our room was excellent—spacious, beautifully decorated, and featured a very comfortable bed. It had leafy views, real coffee, and a small fridge. One minor downside was the small mirror; it was hard for me to use because I’m short-sighted. However, the huge shower made up for it. Breakfast at the Ludlow Cafe next door was delightful, with free tea and coffee, and the manager showed genuine interest in our stay."

"As ever, the quality of the food delivered in this tasting menu was excellent. The cod was divine. The beef was excellent. The chefs sauces are very well constructed. Service was attentive but too speedy. Not enough time between courses to savour the delights! It would be better to leave collecting the plates for a couple of minutes after the last mouthful! The whole experience would have been better if the meal was served in the orangery. Unfortunately, the dining room has little or no ambience and doesn’t match the quality of the food. We are regulars: we will return but look forward to the Orangery being reopened."

"During our first visit to lunch (14/2/2023) I couldn't find a mistake at the service or at lunch. The wine selection was good and the food (steak for main and smoked trout rillette for entree) was excellent so delicious and well presented. The waiting staff was also attentive. During our second visit to lunch (we would like to come back so much) I was very disappointed. I ordered the chicken with potato daphinoise (or similar). The chicken itself was good, but the main reason I ordered this item was actually for the potato accompaniment. What I received was a half of a roast potato and a plate full of mist cauliflowers. Very disappointing. This disappointment was also aggravated by the fact that none of the waiting staff were looking for how we enjoy the meal and if everything was satisfactory or not. The disappointment was even worse, as our expectations for a repetition experience of the first time we have been denounced here were very high. The main reason for my bad review is that the article I received does not match the description of the article on the menu and no waiting personnel checked with us to see if we were satisfied with the meal."

"What a fabulous little gem this place is! We were warmly greeted by our waiter upon arrival and shown to our table. The restaurant is well-equipped with seating arrangements that adhere to COVID guidelines, and the cleanliness is impeccable. When it comes to the food, it's one of the best tapas meals I've had outside of Spain—amazing flavors and generous portions that are definitely worth it. The staff is incredibly friendly and eager to help with any dietary needs, and it was a pleasure to meet the owner/chef at the end of the evening. Many thanks to Julie, Mike, Reon, and Norton for a wonderful night!"

"My partner and I often visit Ludlow and like to discover new coffee and lunch venues. We were a little hesitant when finding this lovely looking cafe/ bistro was empty, whilst elsewhere coffee shops seemed quite busy. The interior was inviting and the waitress friendly so we decided to try it out. As a first impression, I think the extractors in the kitchen could benefit from an overhaul , as the smell of stale fat was noticeably in the air. Also, as is a trend in coffee shops recently, the place was a little chilly. Hot chocolate and coffee was ordered to sort that! These came quickly and were ok. My partner ordered a bacon sandwich (crispy bacon please! and a tea cake for me. The latter was unavailable so a scone was second choice. Sadly on arrival the bacon was definately not crispy and had gelatinous fat and rind. The bread was thick white sliced toasting bread (supermarket cheap and not fresh. My scone came with cream and jam but the scone was like a brick. Definitely not today 's or yesterday 's even. On paying my partner was asked if everything was OK with our food. He politely replied about the scone being stale and the response was simply Oh. And that was that. On leaving the smell of stale fat was in our clothes .... I think that the poor ratings on here are more recent and the average 4 star rating has been bolstered by better reviews earned historically. I do hope this isn 't a downward trend for this little business and things can be pulled back."
