"This restaurant is attached to the Hotel Alexander whose front office staff has gone above and beyond in terms of service. I can’t say enough good things about that. However, service at the Restaurant Pfeffermühle was beyond atrocious. We sat down for a 7:30 pm reservation and got our food over an hour later, abandoned by the wait staff at one point for 30 minutes. We literally got up twice to ask for our carafe of water to be refilled by some random waiter. My husband’s kabob was overcooked and the two burgers were uncooked in the middle (not undercooked, UNcooked) so we sent them back so as not to get E. coli. That took another 35 minutes at which point our teenage kids had gone back to the room. Not sure if this is a function of servers on Austria not working for tip wages or an incredibly inept kitchen staff but unless you have a couple of hours to kill and aren’t hungry, I would strongly advise against dining here."
