"For my husbands birthday we wanted to try somewhere new and we’re recommended this pub by a colleague. From the moment I booked I had high hopes because the lady on the phone was so polite and friendly, she asked which area we wanted to sit in and when I said we’d not been before she told me she would put us by the window on one of the best tables in the restaurant. I had high hopes that we would enjoy our visit and honestly I can’t speak highly enough of it. When we arrived the car park was ample and we went to the bar and said we’d not been before, greeted by a gentleman who took us through to our table and took our drink order straight away. We were given time to peruse the menu and a lady who was leaving suggested the chicken strips were incredible. Looking at the menu the light bits would be nice to see in the evenings and we couldn’t find the chicken strips but then spotted a specials menu which was just out of sight. I ordered the chicken strips which were not strips at all but giant battered chicken and my husband had the crab linguine, both were huge portions, very generous. We also spotted other diners meals and must say the steaks look incredible. Our food we could not fault, the staff were attentive and the venue itself is quaint and a welcome change from busy, loud venues. I had to take some food home and didn’t have a pudding but we’re told we could take away which we would do next time. When we left we were thanked for visiting and certainly would visit again. It really did feel like such a special evening and we can’t wait to return and bring the family!"

Visited here recently with family. Was spacious with nice food. Good menu choice with friendly staff. Excellent service with good size portions. Would recommend this place for good pub food.

Had a lovely meal, but sadly couldn't finish it as portions were so big. Delicious though, arancini risotto balls and a seafood linguine. Staff very friendly and covid safe. Excellent evening and will return.

Visited for Sunday lunch, we both had roast beef and it was a very nice meal. Came out piping hot on warm plates, portions were great and staff very friendly. We asked for an additional gravy boar which they soon brought out. Decor is traditional and atmosphere pleasant.

We tried this place for a Friday night treat and to be honest was a little disappointed. We had starters and mains, the portions where of a good size and well presented. The monkfish was a little bland and partners steak was OK. All in all not a bad place to eat but very expensive 2 starters 2 mains 2 pints and a j2o nearly £75

A few of us went for a birthday meal. The service was efficient and the staff were friendly. The roast dinners were a bit disappointing as we were expecting real roast potatoes but they were the frozen ones. The pie was nice but wasn’t an individual one, it was a slice that had been heated up in a microwave so the pastry wasn’t the same but it was nice and full of meat.

We Had a great night in the main restaurant, we had a drink in the bar side which was a little busy but we were acknowledged served some drinks , a lot of people eating in the bar restaurant too which looked equally good . A lively local pub .The restaurant was full although the starter of my choice wasn’t available I had the beer battered goats cheese which was delicious, followed by a perfectly cooked (to my taste )fillet steak. We also had the haggis fillet which was equally cooked to perfection. We thought the portions were large for us a lot of salad piled on the starters it was wasted on the starters , perhaps a smaller sized salad maybe softer lighting would make this even better for...

Visited here on Sunday for Sunday lunch, first visit here for me. On arrival the staff were very attentive and was quickly seated to table we had booked. I ordered the 3 meats Sunday lunch so did my other two freinds and other freind had the crab salad. On arrival of food it looked ok but on closer inspection, the Yorkshire were burnt, my beef could also not eat as it was so tougth , also when I started to eat it, was cold o did ask the girl if she could microwave it which she did. The other 2 meat meals were also the same but friends didn’t want to say anything, desserts were ok but freinds too on hers looked burnt as well plus I would add for £30 you would get all the makings of a Sunday d...

We visited the Kings Head which recently reopened post Covid closure.I have to say it was it’s usual fabulous food and service. There is a one way entry through the back near the car park. Exit out the front near the road. Details taken on entry and sanitiser provided. We ate in the restaurant. There were a couple of tables with sanitiser on and taped off so you cannot sit there as they are too close to each other. No table cloths or cutlery on the tables. The cutlery is brought to the table with your meal. We had a roast beef and roast lamb dinner. Very good and still served with the vegetables in a separate dish. We had gluten free jam sponge and custard for pudding. It was delicious. Even...

"Very good. this renovated and updated gastro pub has a beautiful, high-end feeling, without too posh. the personal is pleasant, real and well maintained. good drink selection! music selection didn't seem fit, but not extraordinarily. eating is exceptional, but, based on some personal preferences, there were slightly smaller disappointments with each dish. all were presented beautifully! the scallop starter was perfectly cooked, but there was an unexpected sticky texture on the sea red side. the chilis needed something sweet to balance them, but it was a nice warm pop. the acid from the grapefruit mixed with the petersilie mayonnaise drizzle, but both were delicious. some either flash-frozen or dry germinated greens gave beautiful texture, and the dish as a whole was beautiful. the duck ice starter was rich without being hard. slowly boiled (inspiring sous vide,) the egg was perfect. it was on a bed of slowly baked cheekwange, which is longing! some picking mushrooms have also added beautiful acid contrast. the brioche disc on which everything sat was not my favorite, but again can be personal preference. it seemed too thick, dense and sweet for the court. either would have been a nice sourded or an airy crawling cut my choice. again a very tasty dish. the healbutt main was absolutely wonderful! in butter lubricated, with fennel, white asparagus, a butter sauce with raw and squid-ink pasta. all with dill fronds. only small critique was the toughness of the tips of the braided fennel without knife, which is suitable for cutting through. a unique and very pleasant experience! it was great."
