God service, good food, pleasantly quiet. We we were lucky enough to find this early in the evening as it gradually filled while we were there, mainly locals it would appear.

Delicious dishes in a € 24 (2 plate + dessert) lunch menu near to a Cours! The enteriőr is rather modern where a warm welcome helps you to enjoy your time in Aix. HUGE list of quality wines. We can just recommend this place.

We were advised to go here as Le Bistro Latin is shut on Sundays. Nice couple owing it but slightly rattled by us arriving just as they were getting going. Thought we were being ignored at first but then everything kicked in and we had a lovely meal. Visualizza piatti

We went to Il Etait une Fois two times (so far) and enjoyed the ambiance, food, and service. The menu is fixed and changes according to what looks good to the chef. The local pork is often featured and should be tried when you are in the area. You will probably need a reservation. Any fish dish will be excellent. The cost is extremely reasonable.

We came to Il Etait une Fois for our first dinner as a part of Cooking in Provence, a culinary tour of Provence with Chef Kathy of Food Lover's Odyssey. Kathy lived in Provence and knows the young owners. The meal was incredible good and a wonderful entree to the cuisine of Provence. There were four of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed each course. We shared the succulent rabbit appetizer, which was a full umami experience, then enjoyed the lamb, cooked a perfect medium rare (our specification), with a side of roasted sweet potatoes. I chose the Chateau Cremade wine which turned out to be a fabulous accompaniment: a full-bodied and full-flavored wine with not too much fruitiness. Well located in the center of Aix-en-Provence. Good welcome.We have been very well looked after. Food was excellent well presented. We were three and made three different choices and they were all good. Dessert although never my favorite part of the meal was very good and the waiter has been very generous wine chateau cremade from palette area ( close to Aix-en-Provence one of the smallest wine appellation in France) was really good.Merci et bonne continuation à l'équipe !

We were sent to this restaurant at the recommendation of a top notch restaurant that was full. We were the only patrons most of the time (but that might also be because the place is relatively new)They try to be a high-class place -- elegant, expensive, and with a very limited and pretentious sounding menu. The food, however, doesn't cut it. The first course (squid salad) as well as the freshly baked muffins, were excellent. The rest however went from good (the veal), to fair (the lamb), to barely edible (the fish). The Mille feuille was disappointing as well.

We celebrated my spouse's 60th birthday here, per a recommendation from the owner of our apartment in Aix. She said most restaurants aren't open on Sunday nights, but thought we'd enjoy IlEtait une Fois. This small restaurant is run by a husband & wife. He's the chef, she is the only server. It was fairly busy, which explains why the service was not very attentive, and our food was somewhat overdone and not very hot by the time it arrived. The food, however, was creative. Our highlight was an appetizer of fresh sardines on a waffle, which was excellently prepared. I believe the restaurant would benefit from additional wait staff to better accommodate their guests.
