"This was the second viist here as we were really impressed the last time. I booked early na drequeste dspecic seating. So when we turned up with our friends and given different table , I was not impressd. The booking had been made over amonth ago! The excus ewas htat a larger tabel had been set up in th espace we had booked YET the space we were in could equally been made up fo the same! The tbale in contention was also empty for a considerable time so the exchange could have been made. The downsid eoof our new position menat two of us ha dto sit on a bench seat and face the large windows so with a light bright background it was difficut to look across and converse with our friends comfortably. The requested position was side on so no harsh light to glare. plus I detest bench seats cushioned or otherwise. It was a busy Sunday so we expected a slower service. It was particulary slow-over 25 minutes befre we got our desserts -moslty ice creams!! The food was still as good but they need to assess the situation wbete with higher numbers plus follow the customer's request. We will not be rushing back sadly as there are so many good pub/restaurants now where you can get the full service."

A very good meal on my birthday! The service was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was very good...fish n chips, filet, and some vegetarian options. A great place for dinner if you are near Mayfield.

The MH is the perfect village hostelry. Everybody is welcome and the food is excellent. With the closure of other popular coffee houses the MH has become even more important. The staff are very attentive and the MH decor suits the surroundings. Food and drink available at a fair price.

First visit for me but not for the others I was with. Beautiful village and pub, wonderful garden and inside. Good menu plenty of choices, something for everyone. Ate outside, great service as they were really busy. Lovely Hoisin Sticky Duck Salad, Summery Sole main course and a lovely Pannacotta. Will return. Visualizza piatti

I had lunch at this restaurant today and it was excellent as always! The food was great, the staff was super friendly, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We are local to the area and have come back many times. We really can't find any faults with this place. We feel fortunate to have such a friendly and lovely restaurant nearby.

Have had just coffee, breakfast and a dinner here. Fine and friendly service, food hot and tasty, the setting and ambience excellent. I would not say that one can find haute cuisine here, but more like trusty quality 'pub ' food. Tables in garden, on terrace and inside well spaced, so a very pleasant time can be had. Only negative ripple is that we had to wait overlong from wanting to pay the bill to the card machine finally arriving.

We have been several times and we have always had wonderful service and great food. We planned a birthday surprise and all the staff were extremely attentive, and helpful with keeping the secret and helping with table and cake. We do wish to thank the staff in particular the young man who looked after us l all day from drinks on the patio after lunch up to nearly midnight accommodating our party. I’m so sorry I forget his name but also all the staff went out of their way for us so again we will be back soon. Thanks to all . Visualizza piatti

The atmosphere at Middle House is lovely. It's a classic English pub that has been renovated into a large restaurant. The service was efficient and friendly, and the food was delicious. All four of us enjoyed our meals. I chose the roasted salmon, which was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My wife loved the chicken liver pâté starter and the roast pork with a generous serving of crackling (which was requested). Our friends enjoyed their chicken Marsala curry and pork loin. We ended the meal with sorbets and ice cream, which were a nice touch. We also ordered a bottle of the 'house' Malbec, which was surprisingly good for a house wine. Overall, we were very happy with our experience.

I went to this restaurant for dinner with a friend and tried the venison spring roll starter, which was absolutely delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Vietnamese duck with cashews, soy sauce, and a side vegetable selection. I was expecting something Asian-inspired like stir-fried vegetables, but instead, I received Sunday vegetables with dauphinois potato, roasties, broccoli, and carrots. It seemed odd to me to pair creamy/cheesy potatoes and roast potatoes with Asian duck. I asked the waitress about the choice of Sunday veg and she explained that it was a common side dish for many of their meals. This made the dish feel like a missed opportunity for something more cohesive. If you...

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
